Highlights
  • House Of Waterford Crystal - At the House of Waterford Crystal, there is a manufacturing plant, and brand experience in Waterford, where we produce crystal and give visitors an opportunity to visit the factory and see how we make our beautiful products.

On the tour, guests visit the mould room where they witness mould making

  • a technique that has remained unchanged throughout the centuries, as the Master Blowers shape the molten crystal flawlessly with the use of wooden moulds and hand tools. The next part of the tour is truly magical, as visitors enter the blowing department where they see glowing balls of crystal transformed into majestic shapes as they are put through the 1300-degree furnace. The Waterford Crystal pieces are then hand marked for precision and accuracy, and they are then cut, sculpted and engraved.

While getting this behind the scenes sneak peak of this highly skilled method of crystal manufacturing, visitors also see the high standards that the House of Waterford Crystal has for each and every piece that leaves the factory.

The crystal is inspected at each stage of production, so each piece no matter how small goes through six inspections, and if it fails to reach the Waterford Crystal standards at any stage it is smashed and returned to the furnace to be re-melted so that the piece can be started again. The tour is fully guided and takes approx 50 minutes to complete.

On completion of the tour, visitors can experience over 12,000 sq ft of crystal heaven in the largest retail and showcase of Waterford Crystal in the world. The retail store represents everything that is made in crystal, including a showcase on golf and sport, which is a major part of the international business at the House of Waterford Crystal.

The main feature in the retail store is a centre dining table, with twelve Waterford Crystal Chandeliers on display. The lifestyle displays communicate the various brand stories including the Jo Sampson Collection, John Rocha, Jeff Letham and the core Waterford Crystal patterns.

The product range includes Waterford Crystal, House of Waterford Crystal, John Rocha, Jasper Conran, Jo Sampson, Archive Stemware, Marquis, Lighting, Holiday Heirlooms and the new Waterford Crystal Jewellery Collection.

Waterford Crystal continues to provide some of the most prestigious trophies to the world’s great sporting events made at the facility, and some of these trophies are on display in the retail store.

The Crystal caf is open seven days a week, a daytime cafe, the Crystal Caf is all about great food using nothing but the best locally sourced seasonal produce supporting as many Irish suppliers as possible along the way.

The menu offers caf-style dining, incorporating scrumptious salads, soups, wraps, ciabatta’s and other healthy options, with fresh baking daily.

GREAT tour!!!! - The tour was very informative. It was an authentic, behind the scenes tour of Waterford and their amazing production process. We were up close and could actually talk to the artists as well. Highly recommend!!

Deep respect for this craft after this tour! - Sean Maher was a incredible tour guide and is a national Irish treasure for MANY reasons as we learned later (thank you, Sean!). His long history as an glass cutter with Waterford Crystal gave the tour depth and insider knowledge which he thoughtfully shared. I had no idea how much skill and craft went into these beautiful pieces! It was an intimate and wonderful tour and if you're lucky, Sean will share a bit more about his other life's adventures after the tour.

Tour was so interesting and James was a rock star tour guide! - This tour was very interesting and you get to see craftsmen and women actually producing products. The absolute best part was James, our tour guide. He was the best we have ever had! You could tell he took great pride in Waterford and that he highly respected the craftsmen. He had such enthusiasm about not only Waterford Crystal, but his country. What a pleasure to experience this with him!

Most engaging tour guide, Jamie. - We had a recently hired guide, Jamie, who was so engaging. I thought I would get bored because I have seen glass blown many times, but Jamie hooked me in 5 minutes and the tour became a wonderful learning experience. Jamie, you make a great ambassador for Waterford Crystal, you’ll always be remembered by the tourist that are in your groups. I thank my wife Donna for encouraging me to go😁.

Good place to stop while in Waterford - We stopped here while in Waterford, Ireland. We took the tour which was interesting and at a reasonable rate. There is a beautiful display room with Waterford Crystal. You can purchase Waterford and have it shipped to your house. All in all it was an interesting tour and we had n excellent tour guide. We would recommend stopping here while you are in Waterford. There is a cafe in the facility which was a nice treat. They mostly had sandwiches, drinks, and some desserts.

Amazing behind-the-scenes tour! - The tour was amazing! We got behind the scenes and learned about the history of Waterford Crystal and how it is made. I had my two young boys with me (ages 3 and 6) and they loved it as well. We left with two Irish Lace glasses that were made right there at House of Waterford.

Unique experience - We were in the cafe across the road and decided to pop in and take the tour. It was well worth the visit. Luckily there was a tour starting in 5 minutes. The tour guide was a former floor worker, he was very engaging and informative. It was great to see the steps of the process and the unique skill sets of the workers. All of which were very happy to be observed while they worked. Great experience, no pressure to purchase any pieces but you definitely leave with a greater appreciation for the displays on the shop floor.

Also for people that are not particularly interested in glass making - at the factory tourFor some reason, almost must-see place when being around these parts of Ireland. And I agree that the tour is worthy of the time and money that it costs. The tour guide guiding our tour made it very interesting with his explanation and information provided. We saw people directly at work, also the environment where these people work, with all the machines and forms used, plus some products that were created at the place. At the end of the tour, the guests come through the shop. After the tour, I was tempted to buy something as a reminder of the place. There is a café inside of the building, close to the cash desk at the place where you can wait for your tour to begin. I recommend to buy the tickets in advance, if you have tight schedule. Otherwise it might happen that you wait few hours until there is some free spot in free tours ahead.

Take the tour; Don't have tea - The tour of the factory is awesome and quite enjoyable. We made reservations for "tea" in the Crystal Cafe afterward. Very disappointing. We were seated in a corner of the restaurant, and a server put a tray of tired-looking finger foods on the table. None of it looked appealing, and everything tasted bland. The server never returned to check on us or refill water glasses. We expected a very special experience. Should have had tea in a nice hotel. Take the tour; skip the restaurant!

Wanted to like it - Very disappointed that Waterford is mostly made abroad. They still push their items as quintessentially Irish. The tour guide stated they have a hundred patterns. Then they only carry Lismore. We found our entire visit to Ireland to be so wonderful, this is the unauthentic part of the entire tour
