- Switched on Bikes - Our shop is the starting point for your tour. Located by Chaffers Dock Marina, it’s just a 5-minute walk from the Wellington iSite information centre and Te Papa Museum. Enjoy a cafe on site if you arrive early.
We’ll equip you with a bike and helmet, and provide full instructions on using your eBike (it’s easy!). There’s a large car-free area to practice riding before we set off.
- Wellington Waterfront - Our store is situated on the Wellington Waterfront. Nearby, you can see inter-island and local ferries, and you might even spot stingrays, seals, or dolphins!
The Wellington Waterfront hosts numerous events and markets throughout the year and is bustling when the sun is shining!
- Kupe Statue - Your first tour stop offers an essential and fascinating story about New Zealand’s first inhabitants from nearly a thousand years ago. Discover Wellington/New Zealand Māori culture and history throughout this tour.
- Solace In The Wind - Hold its hand and pose with this iconic and poetic statue on the waterfront as your guide shares tales of Wellington’s legendary wind! Don’t forget to capture a photo with the striking Wellington sign while you’re here!
- Oriental Bay - We’ll ride along the cycle path beside the beach, stopping for photos to see how popular this beach spot is on a sunny day!
- Zephyrometer - It’s time for a rest break as we admire Wellington’s iconic wind needle. Watch this 85-foot wind sculpture sway and learn about New Zealand’s innovative energy system.
- Cog Park - This is our cafe stop, where tea or coffee is included in the tour price. The beautiful harbour and docked yachts provide a stunning backdrop for photos to take home.
- Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa - We’ll stop outside Te Papa, a central landmark of Wellington on the waterfront. As New Zealand’s national museum, we’ll inform you about the current exhibitions. It’s a short walk from our shop if you wish to explore at the end of your bike tour.
- Mount Victoria - We’ll ride along the coast at the base of Mt Victoria for much of the tour. There are plenty of photo opportunities with Mt Victoria as your backdrop.
- Switched on Bikes - This marks the end of the tour. You’re centrally located, just a 15-minute walk from Wellington’s iconic Cable Car and 5 minutes from Te Papa.
- Maupuia Walkway - For the best photos overlooking Wellington and the surrounding bays, we put the bikes on ‘turbo’ and head to the top of Miramar Peninsula. From the top, you’ll have time for photos, and we’ll share a Māori tale of how Wellington Harbour was formed.
