Special place to visit - Wow what a place! Such a beautiful spot, you can feel how important the wildlife is to the staff working there. Roy our guide was a gent, so informative and answered all our questions. We saw almost all of the birds and plant life in the park with some stunning views from the dam. There conservation efforts are remarkable!

Nature & Wildlife at it’s best - Our tour guide Ruth had an excellent knowledge on all subjects relating to the sanctuary and her passion for nature was very evident. We learnt so much in just a couple of hours and stayed on to further walk the park ourselves. What a great vision & we hope that it continues in the years ahead. Thank you for allowing us this experience.

Great experience - We visited Zealandia as we wanted to go last time in New Zealand. Great experience would definitely recommend a guided tour as you get an insight into their history. Rosa was a great guide. A great chance to see New Zealands native wildlife .

A gem in the heart of the city - The Zealandia Ecosanctuary is an impressive place … and it wouldn’t have been half as impressive if we had just wandered on our own. I highly recommend taking the small group tour. Our guide was knowledgeable, passionate, and full of anecdotal information about the species in the park. Would definitely visit again!

Well worth it! - Paul was great, charming and informative, with an innate ability to spot and point out things we would certainly not have seen without a guide. I really feel he made the visit worthwhile and would venture that our experience would not have been the same without him.

Great place to visit! - Really nice eco reserve with a great backstory. Saw lots of indigenous birds and a few lizards. The guide was excellent and knew a lot about the wildlife and how to spot them. We got the free shuttle at the top of the cable car lift. That worked well, but if you are early in the day the queue can be disorganized and a free for all. Having pre booked the tour got us priority boarding! Also, we visited Wellington as a part of a cruise. The cruise shuttled us to the town center which was few blocks from the cable car so not a lot of walking to get to the Zealandia shuttle.

Guided tour is a great introduction - Interesting guided day tour which gave us the opportunity to see many native birds that we likely would have overlooked if we had gone by ourselves. We saw kaka using the feeding station, Tui, pied shags, whitehead and fantails. A bonus was seeing tuatara and weta.

Fascinating insights into New Zealand flora and fauna - Definitely recommend visiting Zealandia and doing a tour. Matt our guide was fascinating and we saw so much with him. Hearing the stories about the birds and plants made our trip. Our 6 year old got lots out of it too. Really put our New Zealand trip into perspective. The free shuttle from the cable car was excellent (and went far more frequently than advertised), and our driver (Paul) told us lots of interesting facts about Zealandia both too and from the station. The cafe was good too - not cheap but good food and at least the money is going to a good cause!

A very enjoyable morning. - A very enjoyable guided tour. We saw quite a lot of different birds, especially taking into account that the weather wasn't great. The tour was informative and lasted much longer than the advertised 2 hours.
