Fascinating history of the Māori. Fairly interactive - MUST spend a little to take a guided tour . We took a one hour tour with Roger the official guide. He was very good and passionate about the flora, fauna and the history of NZ . You cannot get the same information out of the trip by trying to tour the museum on your own !

A must see museum - Spent a good half day at the museum. The Gallipoli exhibition was outstanding and very moving. Scads of interactive media throughout the museum. Staff were very pleasant and happy to answer questions. Loved the cafe on the third floor. Quieter than the ground floor restaurant and inexpensively elegant.

Definitely worth visiting - This museum was really well done. It addressed all the various historical, geological, anthropological and other various issues in the development of New Zealand. It is definitely worth the cost of admission and at least a half day of any visit to Wellington.

Great museum - Incredible Museum! one of my favorites I’ve ever been to, if you go don’t miss the garden, it is really lovely full of native plants and man-made waterfall.

Brilliant but too busy at times - Exhibitions where top notch , the gallipolli piece was very well done and very intense Need to be there early as it is very crowded during the holiday period which makes the experience more stressful and detracts from the massive effort that has gone into the experiences

Amazing/Moving Experience - Had a wonderful time learning the history, our favorite experience was by far the war exhibit, how it’s created was very moving and had a lot more appreciation. Highly recommended

This Boots Wellingtons attraction to the top - Well, what can I say. Wow. This museum just blows you away. The Gallipoli area is 100 percentage quality plus some. The detail is brilliant and the staff are so supportive

Great accessible option for Cruise visitors to Wellington - Visiting Wellington on a cruise from Australia. Great walk/wheelchair ride along the waterfront to Te Papa museum. It was a welcome haven as the heavens opened up….. Entry $35 for international adults, children under 16 free. Wheelchair accessible and room to wander amongst the interactive exhibits. So much to see and explore. I particularly enjoyed the 4th floor exhibits of Māori tribal war canoes and traditional housing / culture. The history behind the English treaty signing: The Treaty of Waitangi was also fascinating. I’d recommend visiting. You could easily spend a few hours and finish it off with a coffee at the cafe.

Worth the visit but comes at a price - A great space to enjoy learning about New Zealand including its culture, history and early beginnings. Entry fare was a little but of a surprise for international visitors but free for locals.
