Robert Louie and his wife Bernice, descendants of the Syilx people, maintain a deep connection to the land and its rich history.
• Quails’ Gate Winery - Our 160 acres of fertile soil lie beneath the extinct volcano of Mount Boucherie. The volcanic deposits act like a time-release capsule, and combined with warm summers and mild winters, they break down into nutrients that are easily absorbed by plants, including vineyards. This results in some of the most fertile agricultural land in the world.
• Black Swift Vineyards - Black Swift Vineyards and Screaming Frenzy were conceived in 2014 during a brainstorming session at our production facility in Peachland. We wanted to celebrate our vineyards and exceptional growers while maintaining a lighthearted approach in an often pretentious industry. The name “Black Swift” stood out to us, especially since the bird lays only one egg at a time, mirroring our single-vineyard releases. Additionally, a group of Black Swifts is called a “Screaming Frenzy,” a name we found irresistible.
