Tanjung Harapan Sekonyer Explore

6PXC+767 - Guests are picked up from the airport or hotel and escorted to the Klotok port to start their Sekonyer River adventure. A hot lunch is served as we leave Teluk Kumai and enter the Sekonyer River Estuary.

Tanjung Harapan Orangutan Rehabilitation Center - Our first stop is Tanjung Harapan, the gateway to the Orangutan Conservation area established in 1972. At 3:00 p.m., we arrive at Tanjung Harapan and trek 1.5 KM to the Feeding Camp, an orangutan habitat in the swamp and peat swamp forest area. At 5:00 p.m., we return to the Klotok to continue our journey along the Sekonyer River, enjoying a snack and observing Bekantan and other monkeys in the trees along the riverbank. At 7:00 p.m., we have dinner and then rest on the Klotok, accompanied by the tranquil sounds of the forest at night.

Visit Two Orangutan Feeding Camps: Pondok Tanggui and Camp Leakey

Pondok Tanggui Orangutan Rehabilitation Center - At 8:00 a.m., after breakfast, the Klotok heads towards Pondok Tanggui Feeding Camp. In the morning, we are accompanied by the songs of various Borneo birds, including hornbills. At 9:00 a.m., we arrive at Pondok Tanggui, entering the National Park area characterized by swamp forest vegetation with small stems and fiber roots.

Camp Leakey - At 11:00 a.m., we leave Pondok Tanggui and head to Camp Leakey, the oldest Feeding Camp managed by Prof. Dr. Biruet G. Aldikas, an orangutan expert who began research here in 1970. At 1:00 p.m., after lunch, we enter the clear, dark waters typical of peat forest roots and arrive at Camp Leakey. We explore the tropical rainforest with its typical Borneo trees, trekking 2 KM into the forest to the Feeding Camp where rangers feed the orangutans. At 3:00 p.m., we return to the Klotok and travel down the Sekonyer River back to Muara, enjoying the afternoon atmosphere and the natural forest life along the riverbanks.

Sekonyer River - We have dinner in the Nipah Forest, where thousands of fireflies gather. This is a unique tourist spot that can only be enjoyed without being documented. We stay in the Nipah forest area.

Nipah Kumai Pangkalan Bun

Sekonyer River - At 8:00 a.m., after breakfast, we head back to Kumai where land transportation will take us to the Pangkalan Bun Dayak area. We stop for photos at Betang house in Pasir Panjang, then transfer back to the airport or hotel in Pangkalan Bun, completing the tour.
