Another great day on the Lakes - Another fabulous day out on the Lakes. The views were spectacular and it was lovely and peaceful out on the Lake - it does get a bit chilly though so would recommend taking layers. The boat on our return journey was really good as there was a bit of an audio tour every so often as we went along.

Packed. - We understood that the boat was a short walk from the village centre car parks. Five minutes walk if you are Linford Christie or a super fit hiker type wearing shorts. It is actually a good half a mile and if several of your bones are rubbing against each other, it's about half an hour. The boat was packed. The covered part of the deck only had one seat with a proper back rest, the others being slatted boxes. The seats in the aft and fore sections, faced inwards and had hard backs. It would be useful to delay the safety announcement slightly because the noise from the engine thrust to get the boat away from the various docks, drownes out most of the announcement. The journey is very smooth and the scintillating commentary, pointing out all the landmarks and places of interest, was second to none; because there was none. Much could be learned from a trip on the Windermere boats. The Ullswater boats are no longer steam powered, so their title is something of a misnomer. We did manage to get the one good seat for the return leg from Glenridding, which made the trip much better, views and all.
