The award-winning Great Western Greenway is the top outdoor activity in Westport. This 43 km (27 miles) safe, off-road cycling route stretches from Westport to Achill Island along the Wild Atlantic Way, passing through Newport and Mulranny. The trail crosses the bog lands along the Achill coast. You can park and lock your bikes at the Achill Island Hotel. To return to Westport, cross the bridge (500m) and take the bus back at 3pm or 5pm (4pm on Sundays). The bus ride takes 50 minutes and costs €8 per person.
