Awesome adventure! - Our whale watching excursion was cancelled in Juneau due to weather but we were fortunate enough to be able to book with Captain Dennis and Ally. They were wonderful! We were picked up in a hummer limo and taken to the boat. It was a small group with views for everyone. Dennis and Ally were very informative. He even drove the boat near the shoreline for us to find bears- which we did!!! We saw eagles and tons of humpback whales. We even had the fortune to watch one lob-tail for about 2 minutes- it was awesome! This was a highlight of our trip and I highly recommend Catch of the Day whale watching tours with Captain Dennis and Ally.

This far exceeded our expectation! - This was a major bucket list experience. We wanted to see whales and we saw so many, so close, that the boat rocked and we smelled their fish breath! We also learned so much about the whales and their habits from captain and his wife/mate. We would definitely recommend this small group excursion!

Watched Bubble-Feeding for HOURS! - We watched a pack of humpback whales bubble feed feet away from our boat the ENTIRE time of our tour. The boat was small, we didn’t experience any rough water or waves except for when the whales were super close! I have videos and pictures I will cherish forever! Dennis and Crystal were super sweet and knowledgeable!

Great excursion. We were... - Great excursion. We were so pleased. We even had a transport ride to and from the boat. Saw whales and even a baby whale. This was a small boat which we preferred. We were very fortunate to see a brown bear come out to the shore.

Trip of a Lifetime - We went on the Hoonah Whale Watching tour with the Catch of the Day people and saw tons of whales. We were super excited about our adventure. The directions to the pickup point seemed complicated. We enquired about where we were docking from our ship people and proceeded with that set of directions. The ship drops you off at this area called Icy Straight Point. It has a Gondola, several gift shops, some historic items that tell a story and a couple restaurants. It’s not really a town. As you walk through all of the “stuff” there is a “hub” as they call it. It’s a large circle where the coaches, buses and other vehicles can pick up easily. We asked several red coat people along the way about our directions. They all thought they knew where we were to be picked up, but also seemed confused too. There was a lot of left and rights. We made it away from the gift shops to a visitor booth guy. He said we had arrived. We were also sent a picture of the sign to wait next to so we knew we were at the correct spot. We didn’t relax till we were picked up. It appears not all vendors contract with the main pickup spot, they pickup or drop off adjacent to the main area which is fine. Most importantly, we boarded a vessel where we were greeted by the captain, our car driver was the crew. There were three families, 7 people in all. We set off to see whales. What we experienced was so amazing. When the captain and crew is amazed you know you are seeing something special. These whales performed their fishing ritual over and over, they sprayed water out of their spout, they kicked up their giant tails and they made loud noises, the whole time. They would go under water for a minute or two and come up in another spot and do their thing again. One time they came up right in front of the boat. I could see their skin was full of barnicles. You never know where they will pop up. We also saw a bear and a swimming deer, plus jelly fish and an otter? It was a prolific and an abundant viewing experience. A trip of a lifetime. We were offered packaged snacks from a basket and water. There was a bathroom, but I held it. I know they can’t use strong chemicals to clean the bathroom as they can’t go into the ocean water. Holding it is best. Great trip!

Whale watching at Icy Point - We thoroughly enjoyed our whale watching cruise. Dennis was very entertaining and found the perfect spot to see the whales and boy did we see whales. Probably over a dozen in total. First mate Allie was incredibly helpful and attentive to whatever we needed as well.

Awesome tour - Saw lots of whales!!! - Awesome tour! We saw many whales and boy did they put on a show. A few of them even jumped out of the water. Great captain. Took us out to a great spot where there were several whales. The first mate had lots of knowledge as well and gave us lots of fun facts about the whales. Also they had great communication. I had several questions prior to the tour (but after booking it) and they got right back to immediately answering all my questions.

Great adventure - Great morning to go out to Whale watch. Benefit of having a local guide is that he knows exactly where the whales are and how to find them. Lots of great pictures. Would highly recommend this outfit for whale watching.
