Fantastic experience, brilliant staff, excellent food - We did the gates of hell tour and it was amazing! Although the history and VR experience were very good, the best part was the staff! They were fantastic from start to finish. We had lunch in the coffee shop first and it was delicious. The staff made the whole experience tbh! Definitely recommend for a good day out

Wicklow Gaol brings history to life. Great rainy day activity - What a great suprise we had visiting Wicklow Gaol. Trying to do a rainy day activity we hit the jackpot!! VR experience followed by the self guided tour. The Virrual reality experience took us through the life of the Gaol warts and all!! The staff were helpful and informative and guided us through the VR session and how to navigate the museum/Gaol thereafter. Very informative exhibits with vocal guidance and autobiographical tales of prison life. Afte the Gaol was explored we had lunch in the Gaol cafe. Lovely staff and grub, reasonably priced. Overall a great day out!! Thankyou

Some history worth seeing - Nice location, jam-packed with information and things to see. Definitely try the VR tour before going around the gaol. The graphics are not perfect yet but it is a great experience nonetheless and takes you into the different timezones covered along the walking tour...

Tour a gaol on holiday? Yes, do it. - We were recommended this tour by a friend who lives locally. So glad we listened and added it to our itinerary. The tour is amazing! If you can, do the virtual reality add in, it’s definitely worth the money. The whole experience is both somber and fascinating. We learned such a lot in a very interactive, informative and interesting way. The yes of various types of media makes it excellent for kids as well. I would certainly recommend this tour without hesitation. The cafe is superb also. Very friendly staff, fresh, home cooked food and, great value for money.

Good experience - Did the tour here a couple of weeks ago, went for the VR option as well and we really enjoyed it. Staff very helpful and the tour was well laid out. Well worth a visit if you're in the area although the VR option might be a bit frightening for younger children

Great Experience - First time to go as heard it was really good...it was..virtual tour was brilliant,,lasted 20 mins and you felt like you were actually there. Reasonably priced and well worth a visit. I have one small negative about visit - had breakfast in the cafe and it was delicious. As I was finished and getting up to go... one of the staff behind the counter had a tea towel over his arm, he wiped his nose in it, then wiped his nose with his hand. He didn't clean wash his hands. That's not great for a cafe. He then blew his nose in a tissue, threw it in bin and wiped his nose with his hand. Again, he didn't wash or sanitise his hands and continued to handle plates and bowls and serve food. I was horrified at this. Very disappointing to see this. For that reason I would not go back again. Apart from the fact that covid is still out there...it's totally unhygienic.

Avoid Wicklow Town’s Gaol /Jail - Very unfriendly, unwelcoming staff. Place had no atmosphere and was dirty. The worse of all, after a boring walking around there was a dead mouse in the outside restaurant area. Avoid!!
