Tour of the ages thru the eyes of rhe buildings - Amanda clearly is a history buff with a love of Wilmington, NC. (She's also a licensed tour guide... so officially she knows her stuff!) What particularly impressed me was that she started by getting a sense of who the small group was and our interests, and very quickly starting weaving that into the chronological tale of the story of Wilmington through the lense of its architecture. I walked away feeling like I have a greater sense of the people and how it's been shaped by geography to become the city it is today. Thanks for a wonderful tour!

Every Visitor Should Take this Tour - A genuine history/architecture tour of a historic NC city. The tour guide is witty, incredibly knowledgeable and honest. She is the first Wilmington tour guide who spoke of (and continues to discuss) the Reconstruction Massacre/Coup d'etat. There are 3-5 examples of architecture that ranges from the oldest house in Wilmington to the most recently renovated historic home. The guide does a great job of describing history that's contemporary to the era of the houses. Honestly, I would've remained on the tour for an additional hour or two as the atmosphere was honest, engaging and fun. The tour route is a pleasant walk that anyone, including people with strollers, can manage. Bring water and umbrellas, based on the season. This is definitely the tour for you if you're a first-time visitor or returning visitor who doesn't know about the city's history.

Beautiful architecture, fascinating history - What a fascinating look at Wilmington’s history and architecture. Amanda was our guide and she brought the right mix of knowledge, irreverence, and insight to the tour. It was hot, but Amanda moved us from one shady spot to the next, all the while keeping us engaged with stories and examples of the beautiful buildings in the Historic district. Highly recommend.

Very pleased with this tour, and learned a lot about the area, its history and architecture - Amanda is a very knowledgeable tour guide. She went to college in Wilmington and has lived there for a couple decades now, so she is very familiar with the area and its history. She is also well-versed in the various architectural styles. She has lots of stories to share about Wilmington, what life was like in the various historical periods, as well as stories about the buildings and families that lived in them. We found the tour fascinating, and learned a whole bunch of things that we never knew (for example, that the sacking of the port of Wilmington by Union troops in the Civil War played a role in the surrender of Lee at Appomattox). Also, the day we went out, it was rather warm and humid (no real surprise for July at the coast in North Carolina), but Amanda knows where all the right shady spots are, so she always makes sure to stop and talk in the shade--and that makes the tour much more pleasant than other tours we've been on where the guide just stopped anywhere and you end up sweltering in the heat. We were very pleased with this tour, and learned a lot about the area and its history!

Uniquely informative - We've done several other tours and this tour had more info about the architecture and the culture. There was a sudden storm and our guide gave us options on how to proceed which we appreciated.
