• Rocklands Bird Sanctuary (Montego Bay) - Situated approximately 30 minutes from Montego Bay in the quaint town of Anchovy, Rocklands Bird Sanctuary is a delightful refuge for birds, accessible via a narrow, rugged road.

The Rocklands estate was acquired in 1954 by Lisa Salmon, affectionately known as “the bird lady.” She had a passion for writing, painting, and feeding birds. Over time, the property began to attract a diverse array of bird species. In 1962, Miss Salmon opened the Rocklands Bird Sanctuary to the public.

A visit to Rocklands is often highlighted by the opportunity to hand-feed hummingbirds from the patio. Various species, such as the doctor bird, Jamaica’s national bird, are friendly enough to descend from the trees, rest on your finger, and sip nectar from a feeder.

Additionally, finches and quits are eager to eat millet seed directly from your hand. Guests can also enjoy a guided tour of the grounds, where the experienced guide, Fritz, will showcase numerous bird and plant species.
