- Windermere - At 10.5 miles long, one mile wide and 220 feet deep, Windermere is the largest natural lake in both the Lake District and England and is fed by numerous rivers. The Romans built their fort of Galava at its northern end (Waterhead), and it has always been an important waterway for movement of heavy materials. Although the town of Windermere does not touch the lake (it took the name of the lake when the railway line was built in 1847 and the station was called “Windermere”), it has now grown together with the older lakeside town of Bowness-on-Windermere.

Excellent experience in a private tour at the lakes - I travelled with my husband and 21 years old daughter. We had a full day private tour with Kevin and could not have had a better experience. He drove us to the 10 lakes and also other spots always showing the best places to see and telling the curiosities about each one of them. He is an excellent driver and knows everything about the Lake District Region. We also asked to see some specific spots which he took us happily. Highly recommend the tour and Kevin as the guide.

Unforgettable day in the English Lake Country! - Each of the 10 lakes were so stunningly beautiful and each in such unique and unforgettable ways! We were concerned the day would become repetitive but this was so far from reality! We could not recommend this tour more highly!

The only way to see the Lake District - What a fantastic experience, very smart, clean minibus, Simon the driver was very knowledgeable & friendly, & the tour covered everything you could possibly want to see & do in the Lakes.

Great guide and day in the Lake District - Gary, and Agata, did a great job of planning our tour around a marathon in one of the towns that was included on the original tour. We had total flexibility and freedom to take as much or as little time as we wanted at each stop. The vehicle was very clean and comfortable and Gary was fun to spend the day with!
