- Hook-A-Barra - Hook-A-Barra Fishing Experience takes you on a fun hands on adventure, where you can learn all about this native iconic species that has all anglers obsessed. But wait… you don’t have to know how to fish to be part of the action! The friendly crew on hand will help you battle it out against your friends and family to create unforgettable memories for even the first time fisho.
Our Local fishing guides will have you Hooked on Fishing and you never know you might catch the big one. We have an onsite Barra Kitchen where you can experience the Freshest Fish in FNQ. Delicious, award-winning, sustainable, and only 50 food meters from paddock to plate.
The Hook-a-Barra fishing experience lasts for one hour and includes an Introduction to Barramundi Fishing tuition session; all equipment; catch and release pond fishing; assistance from our expert fishing guides and access to special viewing tanks.
Hook-a-Barra’s ponds are filled with over 1500 barramundi and other species ranging from 50cm to over 1 meter, but these fish are not trained to jump on your rod, so you’ll get plenty of tips to perfect your technique.

Barra Blast - I have always wanted to catch a Barra so whilst in FNQ we visited the Hook a Barra farm just out of Mossman. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They supplied the gear and within minutes I had a hook up. It was so exciting. Barra are known for their fighting spirit and this was no disappointment. A couple of minutes later I had caught my first whopper. Farmer Mark gave me a couple of handy hints and before I knew it, another one was on the hook. Thank you Mark. Great experience.

A great place to visit - Our family loved it! We booked the Saltwater Farm Tour which included lunch & fishing. Food was delicious and freshly prepared. Kids had the best time catching fish! So much that we came back a second time to get in more fishing. Big thank you to Bailey for helping out our youngest who caught a whopper! It was the highlight of his holiday Bailey! A great place to visit.

Amazing staff, atmosphere and lunch! - Amazing staff! They helped my son gwt the skills to catch some huge barra! The lunch was amazing with fresh barra on the menu and barra burgers! Thank you so much for creating a memory for our family always!

Fishing Fun for the Family - Great experience. My 8 year old caught his first ever fish, 4 of them !!!!!!! The team were fabulous, full of knowledge and helpful.

Highly recommended and I will return again. - Staff were very helpful and also educational, a great way to spend a hour or more.
Lunch was beautiful and fresh , even if not fishing its worth stopping for fresh cooked barramundi.

Favourite activity in FNQ - A great place to take the kids, 11 & 8, and husband caught the biggest Barra of his life! 11 took longer to catch a fish, so the crew kindly gave us extra time until there was a successful catch 🐟 Very friendly and attentive staff. Best fish and chips afterwards…barramundi of course!!

Barra fishing @ hook-a-barra Wonga. - Awesome day spent fishing, did the 9am session caught 2 large Barra's. Had so much fun we did another session at 1pm. Staff were fantastic great experience for novice and experienced fisherpeople. P.s fish and chips were lovely thankyou chef.

Great but overpriced - A great activity for the kids. We had lunch there which was really good.
Downside is I thought it was very expensive for an hours worth of fishing.
