Highlights
  • Wulong Karst geological park - Begin your day with a morning meet-up in the lobby of your Chongqing Downtown hotel, where you’ll be greeted by your friendly and knowledgeable personal guide. You’ll then be transported in an air-conditioned vehicle to Wulong Karst Geological Park (approximately a 3-hour drive). Relax and take in the beautiful countryside views along the way.

Wulong Karst Geological Park is recognized as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. It boasts stunning karst landscapes, including Furong Cave, Three Natural Bridges, Houping Giant Doline, and other scenic spots.

  • Wulong Tiankeng Three Bridges - Upon arrival, follow your tour guide to a sightseeing bus that will take you to the entrance. From there, take a sightseeing elevator to explore the Wulong Tiankeng Three Bridges: Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge, and Heilong Bridge. These three natural karst stone arch bridges form the largest natural bridge cluster in Asia. You’ll also see Tianlong Giant Doline and Shenying Giant Doline.

At the entrance, you can see a model of Optimus Prime, as this location was a setting for the 2014 Hollywood blockbuster Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Have your camera ready to capture as many photos as you like, and let your tour guide know if you need to take a break during the tour.

You’ll also encounter an amazing glass-floored sightseeing platform—challenge yourself to try it if you dare (at your own expense).

Explore a Tang Dynasty (618 - 907) style building, historically used for official business and receiving guests.

  • Wulong County - Next, drive to Longshuixia Fissure Gorge, a formation that dates back tens of millions of years and is a prime example of karst landscape. Longshuixia is a gap-style gorge and a significant part of the Wulong karst landform. The entire gorge stretches 5 kilometers and ranges in depth from 200 to 500 meters. Nature has spent thousands of years crafting these magnificent landscapes, which include primitive forests, waterfalls, springs, and gorges.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. On your way back to Chongqing, you’ll stop at the Wujiang River to take in the stunning views of the river and its surroundings.

After the tour, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Chongqing.

just like that one scene from land before time, only less animated and less dinosaurs - An absolutely fantastic hidden gem of a tour. Yes, the bus ride was about 3-3.5 hrs each way but the time flew by with our tour guide Albert’s continually engaging and energetic commentary and the ruggedly picturesque scenery throughout. It was great to learn about the history of the surrounding area from a local and glean some insight into the cultural context of what we were seeing. Lunch was incredible —so much food, all so good! We got a decent amount of time at the park itself, especially given the longer travel time to get there. Albert did a good job helping us keep to a pace that would ensure we were able to hit the sights on the main paved trail, while being graciously flexible with time. There were a fair amount of local tourists at the park but not overwhelmingly crowded. Did a great job keeping track of all 11 of us in the group. Stopped for lunch on the way to the park and took another pit stop for snacks/light food on the way back. Another huge plus was Albert was able to help with translation when buying things. Definitely worth the price with a big group. We had a wide range of physical abilities in the group —we had someone who was a couple weeks out of a boot, another with a casted arm and others who had been hitting the gym before sunrise. Nonetheless, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip!
