A Journey Through Gozo’s Hidden Gems

The day began with a seamless pick-up from my hotel, followed by a ferry ride from Malta to Gozo. Our first stop was the Church of St. John The Baptist, an architectural marvel with one of the largest unsupported domes in the world. The panoramic views from the roof were breathtaking, offering a 360-degree perspective of the island’s lush landscapes.

Next, we ventured to the Sanap Cliffs, a location not accessible by public transport. Standing at one of the highest points on Gozo, I was captivated by the dramatic cliffs and the distant views of Malta and Comino. The untouched beauty of this spot was a reminder of the importance of preserving such natural wonders for future generations.

As we continued our journey, we visited Xlendi Beach, with its crystal-clear waters and picturesque cliffs. The Belvedere overlooking the Xlendi Tower and bay provided the perfect backdrop for a group photo, capturing the essence of our adventure.

Embracing Gozo’s Cultural Heritage

Our exploration of Gozo wasn’t limited to its natural beauty; we also delved into its rich cultural heritage. The Ta’ Pinu National Shrine, a stunning basilica set amidst the countryside, was a highlight of the tour. The Citadel, perched atop the rocks in the center of Gozo, offered a glimpse into the island’s history. From the top of the walls, we could see almost all of Gozo, while the hidden secrets beneath, including WWII shelters and grain silos, added an element of intrigue to our visit.

Our final stop was Marsalforn Bay, home to the traditional salt pans. Here, we enjoyed a light lunch at a nearby restaurant, savoring local flavors while reflecting on the day’s adventures. The salt pans, still in use today, are a testament to Gozo’s enduring traditions and the islanders’ connection to their land.

As the day came to a close, we returned to the ferry, which took a longer route back to Malta, allowing us to soak in the beauty of the blue waters once more. This eco-friendly exploration of Gozo was a reminder of the importance of sustainable travel and the joy of discovering new places while respecting the environment. I left Gozo with a renewed sense of appreciation for the island’s natural and cultural treasures, and I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone seeking an unforgettable adventure in Malta.
