The Small Wild Goose Pagoda and its larger counterpart, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, are significant Buddhist sites dating back to the Tang Dynasty, 1300 years ago.
The two pagodas symbolized Chang’an (Constant Peace) city. Xi’an (West Peace) was known as Chang’an until the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), when Beijing became China’s capital. Chang’an served as the capital for ten dynasties.
