Terracotta Army Tour - We booked our tour very late and were surprised to find we were the only two on the tour, Essentially now a private tour. We were picked up at our hotel around 8:15am. Our guide Coco was very friendly and spoke perfect English. The tour included the inevitable factory visit but as there was only two of us it was quick and painless. The tour of the Terracotta Army was wonderful and Coco’s knowledge really shone through making the tour very educational. Lunch was included in the tour and it was reasonable. Our day was shortened by the fact there was only two of us and we were back in the city by 3:30pm. I would recommend the tour and hope you get lucky like we did.

Great - It was very nice to have company since we were alone, and it wasn't easy to orientate amongst the mass of humanity in the place if I had been alone. The guide was very knowledgeable and it was a pleasure to spend the day with her here.

Fabulous Day - This was a fabulous day trip in Xian. It is well organized and planned and something not to missed while in Xian. The Terracotta Warriors have been well preserved and are well presented with great, close access available to leave a lasting experience.

The warriors of Xian, a wonder - To see the warriors of Xian should be a must when visiting China. It is difficult to describe them: they simply are the eight wonder of the wander.

Terracotta-mazing - The Terracotta Warriors tour was amazing! From the ease of setting it up, to the on-time arrival of the tour bus in the morning, to the unbelievable scope of the site itself, it was truly a stress-free and memorable day. Despite the fact that I had initially provided an incorrect hotel location, the tour company took my corrected location just one day before the tour in stride. The front desk personnel of our hotel let me know upon check in that they had been in touch with them, and confirmed the arrival time, thereby relieving any stress I might have had about making the morning connection for the tour. Our tour was provided in English, and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, and explained everything clearly. The tour itself, including a stop at a 6,000 year old excavated settlement, along with the actual site of the Terracotta Warriors, was extremely interesting. And the Terracotta Warriors site itself is, quite frankly, mind-blowing. It's a massive site, and our guide did a great job gathering us for explanations of things, while also giving us time to wander around on our own. Rendezvous points were clearly explained so that we all knew when and where to reconvene. The return trip to Xi'an was efficient and included drop offs at our respective hotels. One person in my party inadvertently left his phone sitting on the seat of the tour bus when we were dropped off, and between the very helpful Viator staff, in conjunction with our hotel front desk staff, we had his phone back in his hands within forty-five minutes, averting what could have been a really upsetting end to our day. I can't thank Viator enough for, their helpful staff, and for providing an amazing and educational day! I can highly recommend this tour without reservation!

Poor Management of Pickup and Drop Off - The facilities were larger than the pictures depict. This is very fascinating. The guide spoke very good conversational English and was very knowledgeable on the area and the Terra-Cotta Warriors specifically. However, the bus picked our group of five (5) at 0730. Our hotel was strategically located south of the train station but outside of downtown. I was only visiting Xi'an for the Terra-Cotta Warriors only. The bus (without tour guide) proceeded to four separate stops downtown to pick up the remaining 5 persons and tour guide. This took between 1 1/2 to 2 hours to collect the remaining group. This sucked since there was tremendous amount of downtown traffic and the other people had to be hunted down in their hotels. They were not waiting like our group. To make matters worse, the return trip was done in reverse order which took an additional hour or so to drop everyone else off at their downtown hotel before we were dropped at our hotel. This was the only tour guide we did not tip on our two week plus trip in China. Seems to me you would want to gather up the downtown stragglers first then proceed against the prevailing traffic patterns heading away from downtown to gather your largest group. Or at least reverse the drop off so the same group didn't have to wait for the downtown stragglers to get off first. Very bad management of time for our party. It was also hot and the bus driver did not turn on the A/C during the pick up. The A/C was turned on during the drop off but didn't cool the bus/van very good.

Tour with souvenir stop - You should mention that first you bring us to a souvenir shop for 1 hour. .. Would be better if still doing this, it could be done at the end. Please regulate the air-conditioning on the bus. The guide could give a little bit more info at site

Disappointing! - Pretty disappointing! First, it appears that we paid too much, since another couple paid around 50€ less when they booked it directly at our hotel. During the first 2 hours of the tour we were not sure if we were on the right one, because the pick-up at the hotel was very chaotic and no names or room numbers were asked and the guide just pointed at us. When asking for reassurance, the guide did not understand what we meant and kept smiling. That's in addition to never being contacted by the tour operator in the first place to confirm the exact pick-up time. Our first stop was the Banpoo Museum and if you have ever been to an European archeological excavation site there is no need for you to go there. The presentation of our guide seemed poorly prepared and she kept looking at the signs for help. And it didn't help that the signs were in poor English as well. The next stop was the Terracotta Warriors Museum where we were shown how the warriors are made. This was somewhat interesting and the guide from the museum (Anna) spoke excellent English. We then had some time to stroll through the shop next door and later we had an excellent, but not traditional Chinese meal. Afterwards, we went to the Terracotta Warriors which were really impressive, although very crowdy and sometimes you got pushed through. Before going back to the hotel, we stopped at a Mausoleum which was more of a 20 minute walk through a garden and not really necessary. In general, the Terracotta Warriors were impressive, the lunch good but the other sites not that interesting. Unfortunately, the English of our guide was not good and therefore we did not learn any information on the monuments and could not ask our questions. An example that describes her English skills is the following question: "who the terrakotta warriors were founded?" when she actually meant "how were the warriors found?". Hence, her elaborations were sometimes impossible to understand and the receiver did not really work at times.
