Wonderful morning with amazing tour guide! - We always enjoy doing a food tour in every city that we go to - Lost Plate was definitely the right choice for us! We loved them so much when we did their tour in Chengdu that we decided to continue in Xi'An; this time opting for the morning food tour to try something different. Our meeting location was super easy to get to/find. Our tour guide BuRen was prompt and actually met us early. He had messaged us the night before to ask about our food limitations, and make sure he can accommodate all of our needs. As a self described Foodie - we knew we were in for a treat! It turns out, we were the only 2 that decided to wake up early on a Sunday morning - so it was a private tour with BuRen. It turned out to be an experience! We stopped by very local places down alleys that we would have never ventured into ourselves deep in the Muslim Quarters. We enjoyed the delicious food with super friendly vendors. Since it was just the 2 of us, we were invited into the kitchen to watch them hard at work making the food. We even got our hands on making our own dumplings at our very last stop from a husband/wife team. BuRen was very knowledgeable and provided us with so much history. We happened to be there during their weekend flea market also - so BuRen took us down the busy streets to explore the area like a true local. We throughly enjoyed our time with BuRen as he was such an amazing tour guide - even offering to drive us back to our hotel at the end of the tour since it was on his way back home. Would highly recommend this tour - and Lost Plate - to anyone considering a food tour.

This tour is awesome with a very knowledgeable guide and we had so much food. Buren offered us an unique foods and his knowegle of the Muslim area was incredible. The next day we contacted Buren for a new food and within 3 minutes he had 2 suggestions. We took the noodle place and we were not disappointed with his recommendation.

Morning Food and Market Tour of Xi’an - Buren was so enthusiastic about this tour. The food was so flavorful and bountiful. Buren shared his passion for food and purchased several tasty snacks along the way. Our last stop was a small shop that served dumplings and we had an opportunity to make a few. Our dumplings did not turn out the best.😀. We wandered through the market and experienced the bird and cricket vendors. I Overall this was a great tour and I left not being able to eat another bit of food.

You can't miss this. - This tour is a must! While getting food in the muslim quarter is easy since there are so many offerings, finding the best food and getting a diverse selection of it requires a guide. We had many delicious things that we would not have ordered by ourselves, but really liked. Also our guide Buren was very friendly and knowledgeable. He pointed out many things along the ride and answered all our questions. Since we went on a sunday, a flea market with a lot of birds and crickets was taking place in the area. Walking through here with our guide was a great experience!

Belated review of an amazing time on this tour! - We actually went in the summer of 2019 but that dropdown wasn't shown. I always meant to put a review up and I'll say without question all the Lost Plate tours were excellent and the morning tour in Xi'an was very worthwhile! I would absolutely do this again without hesitation!

Great eats! - Michelle is an absolute legend. She escorted our small group through various incredible eateries which all had a long line outside, the best sign possible a place is authentic and delicious. We skipped the lines due to her preparation, were able to visit the kitchens and watch the chefs at work, and were always shown right to a table or other comfortable space when a wait was unavoidable. Her knowledge of the foods and history of the city in general and the muslim quarter specifically was exceptional. The tour also took us through a truly unique market and of course for some of the best food I've ever had. Michelle is a thoughtful and fun host and I highly recommend you book any tour with her.

A gastronomically good morning! - We thoroughly enjoyed our morning tour. Our guide, Michelle, was attentive, knowledgeable, and fun! The tuk-tuk drivers were on point. The meeting location was easy to find. All of the samplings were delicious. Michelle explained the processes for making the dishes and some history of the small family-run shops we visited. The small group size makes it fun for meeting and exploring with new friends. Our favorite dish was the savory beef pancakes...they were extraordinarily flavorful!! We even went back to have it for breakfast one more time before we departed. It was great having Michelle show us around the market too. Cricket fighting. Who knew?! If you enjoy food, you'll regret not taking this tour... don't miss it!!
