- Montana Corona - Vimotions invites you to embark on an exhilarating hiking adventure in Lanzarote’s northern region, where you’ll traverse two protected natural areas: the natural monument Volcán de la Corona and the Famara Cliffs within the Archipiélago Chinijo nature park. A knowledgeable guide will accompany you throughout the journey, ensuring you experience all the highlights.
The trek begins in the village of Ye, leading you up to the La Corona volcano’s crater. Along the way, you’ll be captivated by the stunning vistas of vineyards and the impressive malpaís, or lava fields.
This hike isn’t limited to just one volcanic sight; you’ll encounter a total of four. La Corona is in line with Volcán de la Cerca, Los Helechos, and La Quemada, all of which are believed to have been active around the same time as La Corona. Standing atop these summits, which soar over 500 meters, you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Lanzarote’s northern landscape, both to the east and west.
After exploring the volcanoes, your guide will lead you to the pinnacle of the Famara Cliffs. These cliffs are a natural marvel, with a sheer rock face that stretches more than 500 meters high and spans over 22 kilometers. As you stroll along the cliff’s brink, you’ll be mesmerized by the spectacular sights of the Archipiélago Chinijo.
The hike’s final segment, influenced by elevation and the trade winds, will reveal one of the island’s most ecologically diverse zones. Here, you’ll encounter a variety of volcanic plant species and birdlife, which your nature guide will point out.
