Highlights
  • Fuji Five Lakes - Fuji Five Lakes, or Fuji Goko (富士五湖), comprises five lakes and resort areas at the base of Mt. Fuji. The lakes include Lake Kawaguchiko (河口湖), Yamanakako (山中湖), Lake Saiko (西湖), Lake Motosuko (本栖湖), and Lake Shoji (精進湖). These lakes are popular tourist destinations year-round, offering activities such as sightseeing, hiking, camping, fishing, cruising, and visiting museums.

Each lake offers a breathtaking view of the lake itself with Mt. Fuji in the background. Lake Kawaguchiko is the most tourist-friendly and the easiest to reach via public transportation (to Kawaguchiko Station).

During the Cherry Blossom season, expect long wait times to view Mt. Fuji and the Pagoda. In recent years, visitors have had to wait up to an hour for a viewing time of about 3 to 5 minutes.
