Highlights
  • Charoen Krung Road - Charoen Krung Road was the first paved road in the Thai capital, built more than 150 years ago, to serve the fast-growing community of foreigners who settled on the bank of the Chao Phraya River. It was built so that foreign diplomats and foreign traders were able to easily visit the King and the government offices.
The area was (and still is) a melting pot of cultures: Chinese merchants settling down building shophouses next to European diplomats and Persian traders. Although the center of commerce has now moved to other districts in the city, Charoen Krung has never left abandoned. Residents remain living their lives the way their ancestors did and walking along the alleys is like taking a trip through time.
You will enjoy a small meal, rice topped with roasted duck, in a famous restaurant which has been open since 1909. The restaurant is very popular among the locals and the roasted duck melts in your mouth!
(If the restaurant is closed, the guide will offer another meal).

Wonderful insight of backstreet Bangkok - This is a great trip our guide for the walk was Nicky and she was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic whilst making sure that we were fine and the pace not to much for us, yes it's a 4 hour walk in hot and humid Bangkok but we had time for a coffee brake in a lovely looking theatre and stop and have some of the herbal remedies explained to us from the traditional chemists. Nicky was great in explaining all of the plants and trees along the way and what they where good for, it was fascinating. The 4 hours flew by and all to soon we had to say our goodbyes to Nicky. We felt it was a wonderful and very interesting walk and if you are in Bangkok we would certainly recommend doing this walk. Craig & Linda

Book this tour! - This is a tour of great things: food, culture, history, and a bit of street art. I had Net as my guide, she had lots of energy and a fun personality. She accommodated everyone's dietary needs. Sometimes street food and the local restaurants can be intimidating, Net helped us taste a bit of Bangkok. She also showed us the local markets and how different religions coincide with one another in Bangkok. I highly recommend this tour and the walking was good to burn some of the calories off.

Wonderful glimpse into Bangkok’s neighborhoods - My guide, Nicky, took me on a wonderful tour of many of Bangkok’s older neighborhoods—we visited the markets, sampled some of the wonderful Thai food specialties, and learned about these neighborhoods’ layered histories, both through their architecture as well as through their art and people. We visited the first movie theatre in Bangkok alongside some of its artier neighborhoods, and ended with a visit into Chinatown and saw a whole wall of street murals. Nicky was generous with her time and knowledge and I appreciated her caring spirit and personality; I felt like I learned a lot about Thailand and Bangkok history from her storytelling and insight, and her food recommendations were totally delicious. This is a perfect “off the beaten path” tour, as it gives a visitor or newcomer to Bangkok a feel for the neighborhoods where residents actually live, alongside their efforts to revitalize and transform these spaces through art and creative expression. I highly recommend this tour! Thank you, Nicky, for a wonderful morning!

Informative and fun! - This was a great tour that gave incredible insight to the history of Bangkok. We got to go off the beaten track and see many heritage buildings, gorgeous coffee shops, and art galleries (the gallery was my personal highlight!). I would’ve liked to see more street art, but getting to see so many interesting buildings was a treat. Nikki was an amazing tour guide, so funny and easy going! She also took me to some food stalls and let me know of good things to try in future. I highly recommend this tour!
