Matenadaran - The Museum of Ancient Manuscripts - The itinerary also includes a visit to the Matenadaran, home to ancient manuscripts.

The Churches of Echmiatsin and the Archaeological Site of Zvartnots - Later, drive to Echmiadzin to see Armenia’s oldest cathedral, then continue to Zvartnots, where you’ll find the ruins of a 7th-century cathedral listed by UNESCO. Return to Yerevan in time for dinner. Overnight in Yerevan.

Yerevan - Garni - Geghard - Yerevan

Garni Temple - Garni and Geghard are often combined into one trip due to their close proximity, though they are stylistically very different. Garni is unique, featuring an Ionic Greco-Roman pagan temple originally built in the 1st century AD and restored in the 1970s after a 17th-century earthquake left it in ruins.

The Monastery of Geghard - Geghard is a UNESCO-listed monastery founded by Gregory the Illuminator in the 4th century. The current structure dates back to the early 14th century, but the sacred spring you can visit is the original one in Gregory’s cave. After the visits, return to the city and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Yerevan - Khor Virap - Noravank - Areni - Yerevan

Khor Virap - Khor Virap boasts a special location near the Turkish border, offering stunning views of Mount Ararat. The monastery itself is photogenic and fascinating to explore up close.

Noravank Monastery - Noravank Monastery’s setting is even more spectacular. As you approach through a narrow canyon, the religious complex appears, renowned for its carvings of Jesus with Peter and Paul. Steep steps lead up the outside of the church above its door, and the views from the first floor are breathtaking if you can manage the climb.

Areni Wine Factory - The final stop today is at Areni, where you’ll sample local wines at a popular winery.

Yerevan - Sevan - Dilijan

Monastery Sevanavank - Take an excursion from Yerevan to visit Armenia’s most beautiful lake. Sevanavank Monastery sits atop a hill, offering stunning panoramic views of the lake. In the churchyard, you’ll find intricately carved stones known as khatchkhars.

Local Lore Museum and Art Gallery of Dilijan - Drive to the nearby spa town of Dilijan to visit the Geological Museum and Art Gallery, which showcases archaeological artifacts and artworks. The town also has numerous craft workshops where you can buy souvenirs.

Dilijan - Haghpat - Sanahin - Lermontovo - Goshavank - Dilijan

Haghpat Monastery - Haghpat is a medieval complex mostly completed in the 9th century. Its grey stone structures are topped with terracotta roof tiles, but the floor is the most interesting feature, with holes originally designed to keep wine cool.

Monastery of Sanahin - Sanahin is Haghpat’s twin, and its name means “older than that one.” The floor of its cavernous interior is covered with tombstones, and stepping on them is considered good luck as it’s believed to free the dead of their sins.

Goshavank Monastery - The final stop is at the 12th-century Goshavank Monastery before returning to Dilijan for dinner.
