Yerevan /City Tour/
Yerevan - Yerevan City Tour
The tour begins with the capital of Armenia: Yerevan. Known for centuries as the “pink city” due to the color of the volcanic tuff stone used in its construction, Yerevan is one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, founded in 782 BC. Its streets are rich with history, culture, and vibrant energy. During the tour, some of the city’s most iconic landmarks will be explored:
Yerevan - Republic Square – The heart of Yerevan, surrounded by government buildings and the History Museum. At night, the square comes alive with its famous dancing fountains.
Yerevan - Mashtots Avenue – Named after Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet, this central avenue is lined with shops, cafes, and cultural institutions.
Yerevan - Aram Khachaturian Opera and Ballet Theatre – This grand structure, named after the famous Armenian composer, is a cultural hub for opera, ballet, and concerts in Yerevan.
Yerevan - Cascade Complex – A massive staircase connecting the downtown area with the Monument neighborhood, offering stunning views of the city and Mount Ararat. The Cascade is also home to the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, featuring modern sculptures and art exhibitions.
Yerevan - Mother Armenia – A towering statue symbolizing peace and strength, offering a panoramic view of Yerevan. Located in Victory Park, the statue serves as a reminder of Armenia’s resilience. Throughout the tour, there will also be opportunities to explore local markets, parks, and enjoy the city’s lively cafe culture. Yerevan blends the old and the new, offering visitors a unique glimpse into Armenia’s rich past and vibrant present.
Yerevan - The Museum and the Memorial of the victims of the Genocide
YEREVAN - KHOR VIRAP - ARENI - NORAVANK - YEREVAN
Khor Virap - Visit Khor Virap Monastery (4-18th centuries). This monastery is significant due to its history; Gregory the Illuminator, who introduced Christianity to Armenia, was imprisoned here for about 13 years when it was a prison. Enjoy the spectacular view of the sacred Ararat Mountain - an immortal symbol of Armenia.
Areni - Continue the tour to Areni Village and Areni Cave. The cave consists of 3 rooms, most of which are not yet explored. During studies of the cave, metal knives, fruit seeds, grain residues, rope, pottery, clothing, grapes, and dried plums attributed to the years 4200-3500 BC were found. The oldest leather shoe in the world (over 5500 years old) was discovered here. The cellar found here is considered the oldest in the world (dating back over 6000 years).
Vayots Dzor Province - Continue the tour to Noravank - a 12th-century monastery situated among stunning sheer rocks on the edge of a twisty gorge. This is the only monastery where a unique sculpture of Father God can be found. Return to Yerevan.
YEREVAN - SEVAN - NORADUZ - DILIJAN - YEREVAN
Sevan - Drive to Lake Sevan, one of the largest lakes in the world, known for its sweet and astonishingly blue water. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the beautiful lake. Visit Sevanavank Monastery on Sevan Peninsula. There are two monasteries; one is destroyed, but the other remains. They were built in the Middle Ages, around the 10th century.
Noratus Cemetery - Visit Noratus, a village on the western shore of Lake Sevan in the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia. It is particularly known for its historic cemetery, Noratus Cemetery, which is one of the largest collections of Armenian khachkars (cross-stones) in the country.
Armenia - Mikaelyan’s cheese farm
The next stop is Mikaelyan Family Farm, where unique Armenian cheese has been produced for several years by the Mikaelyan family. This family-run company specializes in the production of wine-cheese, cognac-cheese, “horac,” and parmesan-type cheeses.
Dilijan - Drive to Dilijan. Walking along Sharamberyan Street, visitors will encounter many museums, souvenir markets, small shops, and more. Observe two traditional houses built of wood, with tiled roofs and balconies with meticulously carved details, typical examples of Dilijan.
Yerevan - Saghmosavank - Amberd - Yerevan
Aragatsotn - Saghmosavank monastery
