Yerevan - The tour kicks off with a city walk in Yerevan, a city with a history that predates even Rome. Today, Yerevan is a vibrant and delightful city, featuring lush parks, pink-hued buildings, and friendly, welcoming residents. From the observation deck in Victory Park, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city.
The walk continues to the Cascade, a unique structure that serves as a Museum of Modern Art and a beloved spot for Yerevan’s locals. The tour then proceeds along the city’s main street, where you’ll see the Opera and Ballet Theatre and several of Yerevan’s central streets.
Saghmosavank - Amberd - Voskevaz Winery - Yerevan
Saghmosavank Monastery - In the morning, the journey takes you to the Saghmosavank Monastery, perched atop the Kasakh River Gorge. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by a breathtaking view of the canyon.
Amberd Fortress - The tour continues to Amberd Fortress, majestically situated on the slopes (2300 m above sea level) of Mount Aragats. Amberd was once the birthplace of the Pahlavuni princes and a key strategic stronghold for the Bagratuni Armenian kings.
Voskevaz Winery - After lunch, you’ll visit a genuine wine castle, the Voskevaz Winery, whose name means “Golden Bouquet.” Here, you’ll enjoy a fascinating tour of this historic winery, learn about the wine fermentation process, and taste award-winning wines that have earned gold and silver medals at the MUNDUS VINI exhibition in Germany.
Geghard - Garni - Baking Lavash - Ararat Brandy Factory
Geghard - After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll head to the scenic Azat River Canyon, home to the Geghard Cave Monastery.
Garni - The journey continues to the Garni Temple, a pagan temple from the 1st century AD and the only remaining example of Hellenistic architecture in the Caucasus. The surrounding landscape, with the deep Azat River Gorge and the Geghama Mountain Range, adds a unique charm to the temple.
Lunch will be served outdoors, featuring a traditional demonstration of baking Lavash in a tondir (an underground oven). The hot, freshly baked Lavash with cheese and fresh greens is a must-try.
ARARAT Museum - The tour returns to Yerevan to visit the renowned Ararat Cognac Company. Armenia’s cognac-making tradition dates back to the 19th century, and the Ararat brand from the Yerevan Brandy Factory is famous worldwide.
Khor Virap - Areni - Noravank - Hermon
Khor Virap - After breakfast, the tour heads south to the Khor Virap Monastery, offering the best view of Mount Ararat. On clear days, the biblical Ararat appears so close, as if within reach.
Areni - The journey continues to Armenia’s second-largest wine region, the Arpa River Valley, known for its unique Areni grape variety. Archaeologists have discovered the world’s oldest winery and shoes in the Areni caves.
Noravank Monastery - The next stop is the Noravank Monastery, another masterpiece of Armenian architecture, nestled in the red rock valley. The tour then proceeds to a wine factory in Areni, where you’ll sample local wines.
Silk Road: Selim Caravanserai - Lake Sevan - Wine and Cheese Tasting
Selim Caravanserai - This day features a scenic journey along a section of the Great Silk Road. Here, you’ll have the chance to see one of the best-preserved caravanserais, where merchants and travelers once stayed overnight.
Lake Sevan - A few kilometers away lies the stunning Lake Sevan, one of the world’s highest and largest freshwater lakes, situated about 2000 meters above sea level.
Have you ever tried cheese aged in wine? If not, you’ll have the opportunity to do so, as a meeting is arranged with an expert who crafts these delicacies with great success. There will also be a cheese-making masterclass. Later, you’ll enjoy a relaxing time by Lake Sevan.
