Revving Up for Adventure

The sun was blazing down on Yeroskipou as I arrived at the TT Motorcycle Rentals & Tours Paphos, ready to embark on the Quad Safari adventure. The anticipation was palpable as I met my fellow thrill-seekers, all of us eager to conquer the rugged terrains of Cyprus. We were given a choice between quad bikes and UTVs, and I opted for the latter, craving the extra protection from the relentless sun. Our guide, a seasoned adventurer himself, briefed us on the safety protocols and handed out goggles and bandanas to shield us from the dust.

As we revved our engines and set off in a convoy, the excitement was electric. The first stretch took us through the sandy trails of Geroskipou municipal beach, where the salty breeze mingled with the roar of our engines. The UTVs handled the off-road tracks with ease, and I couldn’t help but feel a rush of adrenaline as we sped along the coastline, the azure sea glistening beside us.

Into the Heart of the Wild

Our journey continued as we veered off the beaten path, navigating through agricultural fields and dry riverbeds. The landscape was a tapestry of earthy tones, punctuated by the vibrant greens of the occasional olive grove. The terrain was challenging, but the UTVs proved their mettle, tackling the rugged paths with aplomb. Our guide was a master of the route, leading us with a perfect balance of caution and daring.

We made our first stop at the Mandria Beach Bar Shack, a quaint spot where we could stretch our legs and enjoy a refreshing drink. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the view of the sea was nothing short of spectacular. As I sipped on a cold beverage, I took a moment to soak in the surroundings, the sound of the waves providing a soothing backdrop to our adventure.

Refreshed and recharged, we set off once more, this time heading towards the Asprokremmos Dam. The ascent was exhilarating, the UTVs climbing higher into the mountains, the air growing cooler with each turn. The dam, a colossal structure, loomed ahead, its reservoirs a stark reminder of the island’s reliance on this precious resource. The views from this vantage point were breathtaking, a sweeping panorama of the Paphos district that left us all in awe.

The Thrill of the Climb

The final leg of our journey took us through the twisting mountain tracks towards Episkopi village. The path was narrow and winding, the cliffs rising steeply on either side. It was a test of skill and nerve, but the reward was worth every heart-pounding moment. As we reached the village, the scent of kleftiko wafted through the air, a tantalizing promise of the local cuisine.

We parked our UTVs and took a leisurely stroll through the village, its stone houses and narrow streets a charming glimpse into traditional Cypriot life. At the local kafenio, we indulged in a well-deserved cold beer, the perfect end to an exhilarating journey. The hospitality of the locals was heartwarming, their smiles as warm as the sun that had accompanied us throughout the day.

As we made our way back to the starting point, the sun dipping low on the horizon, I couldn’t help but reflect on the adventure we had just experienced. The Quad Safari had been a thrilling ride, a perfect blend of adrenaline and awe-inspiring scenery. For anyone with a thirst for adventure, this is a journey not to be missed.
