Great experience and food - We had a very enjoyable and relaxing time with our guide and his helper in the kitchen at a local village. Our guide picked us up from our hotel and took us to the markets to buy some ingredients. We then drove to a village where he demonstrated the preparation and cooking of some traditional meals. We were involved in the preparation and he was very happy to share the cooking techniques and explain the different ingredients. The final meal was delicious and inspired us to try some Javanese dishes at home. Highly recommended!

Immersive experience in Indonesia - Everything was very special, at a certain point we felt like we weren’t in Indonesia. We were just chatting with a good friend. The food was excellent and the transport was efficient, and Widi give us a great lesson on Indonesian’s history.

Indonesian market tour and cooking class. - The experience started with a market tour to pick up ingredients for the day's menu. The meal included an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. You really learned to appreciate how much effort and time went into these Indonesian dishes. Despite, the instructor, speaks English very well and effectively answered my question. A positive recommendation from me.

We learned a lot about the food but also a lot of background information about the culture behind the food. Also these are the kindest people and will tell you gladly everything you want to know about their culture and food. Really enjoyed the experience as a whole.

Cooking, fun, learning, and eating. A perfect day - Our day began with a walking tour of a local open market with Weddi. He picked us up from our hotel and told us about everything we saw at the market as we shopped for ingredients. Weddi introduced us to different vendors and we sampled items including a fresh coconut we picked up on our drive to our class. The class was taught at their home where Desy welcomed us with chef hats and aprons. She was kind and patient giving us guidance as we sliced, chopped, grinded, fried, sauteed, and stirred our way to making a delicious meal. We chatted the the whole time, learning about each other's food and culture, and laughed all along the way. Come to class hungry and be ready to learn about Indonesian ingredients, cooking skills, and culture. We had a great time making galanga chicken, yellow rice, fried tempe, prawn fritters, and sambal! Terima Kashi Desy & Weddi!

A must do in Yogyakarta! - The Javanese cooking class was a genuinely welcoming experience, marked by the hospitality of the family. The husband picked us up from our hotel and shared insightful snippets of Yogyakarta's history and culture during the ride. Before heading to their cozy home for the cooking session, they treated us to refreshing fresh coconut. The cooking class itself was informative and enjoyable, with clear instructions from the wife making it easy to follow along. The dishes we prepared were simply delicious, showcasing the authentic flavors of Javanese cuisine. Aside from the culinary experience, we also had the opportunity to observe various animals near their house, adding to the charm of the day. But what truly impressed us was the family's dedication to ensuring we had an exceptional experience. When we expressed interest in trying civet coffee, they went the extra mile by arranging a visit to a renowned civet coffee place, where we received a tour and learned about the fascinating process of coffee bean production. We highly recommend this cooking class to anyone considering it. Don't hesitate to book now for an enriching culinary adventure in Yogyakarta and meet such a wonderful family.
