Highlights
  • 1-1 Yamanouchichō - Embark on an exciting journey to discover Japanese fish and Sushi! My tour takes you to a bustling fish market where you can snap photos of your favorite fish.

As we stroll through the market, your friendly guide will share insights about the fish’s habitats, how they’re caught, and their journey to the market. We’ll also have some fun quizzes along the way. If you’re lucky, you might witness a large tuna being filleted – you’ll get an up-close look at its bones and head!

But that’s not all! Your guide will also offer tips on cooking fish. You can even purchase high-quality tuna fillets and blocks at a great price.

To conclude the tour, I’ll treat you to a delicious fish dish (mainly Sushi) at a local market restaurant. Our guide will demonstrate how it’s prepared! (One fish dish from the set menu is included in the tour price.)

Unforgettable memory at a fish market - Looking around a variety of fish and seafood at the lively market in the morning, we enjoyed learning about those names that the host atsushi-san told us. Today's experience will be an unforgettable memory for me.

Must experience this tour if you are a Sushi lover - I was really impressed by this tour. Atsushi is very knowledgeable about not only Sushi ingredients, but also fishing itself, fishing industry in Japan, and the history of fresh and dried maritime products. He actually sails and goes ocean fishing, then he cooks fish for himself, finally serves fish dish to his family and friends, so he knows what he is talking about. We walked around the Yokohama fish market and he showed me several types of seafood. We talked about fishing, Sushi preparation, and Japan culture and some Japan's history. His English is excellent since he lived in Canada for two years and he did quite a bit of overseas travel. At the end of the tour, we visited a typical Sushi Bar where I ate lots of sushi. Excellent experience! Some foreigners can visit this market, however you will never learn the truth of Japanese fish and Sushi story in English. I recommend this fantastic tour if you come to Tokyo or Yokohama region!

Why don't we go see a market known only to the locals? - I had a great experience to see rare Japanese fish, shellfish, vegetables, and most importantly, a tuna dismantling show with excellent explanations by our guide. This market is not explained in foreign languages, so an experienced guide is a must if you want to enjoy it more. The restaurant next to the market with fresh fish is also highly recommended. If you plan to do some shopping, it would be a good idea to bring some cash. The market opens every Saturday. This is a great option for tourists looking for a Saturday breakfast and a valuable experience.
