Best Tour Guide Ever - Our tour guide Hiroko met us at the pier in Yokohama as planned. We then took the train to the Asakusa Area of Tokyo, saw the sensoji temple , the kaminarimon Gate and the Nakamura shopping street. Then a nice lunch. Went to Tokyo station and the Characters Street in the lower level to by Anime thing for grandchildren, over to shibuya station to see statue of Hachi and scramble crossing. Got to see it from above and video it as the lights changed. Went to Miyashita park had coffee before heading back to Yokohama. Hiroko was the most personal and caring person you could get She was prepared brought plastic covered sheets of paper with explanations of the attractions what some words meant and the kanji characters. She was helpful while we were shopping asking young Japanese boys what anime things we popular. Gave us a lot of on-site to Japan. When we parted it felt like we were leaving an old friend

Our tour didn't quite work out - I booked my tour three months in advance - a full day private tour of Tokyo, just my husband and I. We were arriving on a cruise with only one day to see and learn everything we could in and about Tokyo. The guide (Michael R.) reached out a couple weeks in advance so I felt great about this tour. I advised him of learning while onboard that the ship would not be docking in Yokohama but in Tokyo instead. He asked for the time of arrival and the port address which I provided. I sent him a WhatsApp text with all the things we were interested in seeing and doing for the day - no response. On the morning of arrival, I send him a copy of the tour ticket that I received from Viator the previous day which noted that the tour started at 9am. Perfect, the ship is scheduled to dock at 8a, as I told him a week or so prior. The guide responds saying that he'll be waiting there at 8am. I told him, as I mentioned when he asked what time the ship was set to arrive, that the ship is set arrive at 8a but that it takes a while before the passengers are allowed off the ship. He said that my time starts at 8a, he has plans after our tour, and that if I didn't like that, I can go back to the company I booked with (Viator) because he doesn't work for them. He works for a different company (City Unscripted). After some back and forth with this rude guy, I did just that except that I contacted City Unscripted (and Viator). I ultimately ended up canceling the tour because why would I want to spend the day with this rude person?! No way would we be able to enjoy our day! I messaged his company - City Unscripted - and Mark got right back to me. He apologized that this happened and said he'd try to find another guide at that last minute but unfortunately, he was was unable to. My husband and I ended up making the most of our day, best we could, in Tokyo. While we didn't get the advantage of learning about Tokyo and being shown around by someone who knows the place, we still loved Tokyo and will be back. In summary, if you book this tour and are assigned to Michael R., I would definitely request someone else. The company itself tried to make it right and they did give me a full refund. I would book thru them again but would definitely search the reviews and request a guide with great reviews!!
