Highlights

Masham - We head off to Lower Wenslydale, with your Tour Guide telling you about the history and features of the area. The first stop is at the traditional market town of Masham in Lower Wensleydale, which gained its market charter over 700 years ago in 1251. Here you can learn some of the Town’s history from your guide and see the remains of an Anglo-Saxon cross shaft, thought to be around 1300 years old, at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, explore the quaint shops or just enjoy a leisurely Yorkshire brew and some cake in one of the cafes on the square – the choice is yours!
Grassington - Heading across Masham Moor where the sheep roam freely amongst the Heather and vast open landscape on our way over the tops to Nidderdale. The fantastic views and scenery over Gouthwaite Reservoir and miles of drystone walls make it perfect for some great photo stops. We arrive at the picturesque town of Grassington, famous for its role as the fictional town of ‘Darrowby’ in the new ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ television series, first aired in 2020. Here you will have 1.5 hours free time to explore the shops, Cafes and filming locations or even pop into the Devonshire Arms pub (The Drovers in All Creatures Great and Small) for a drink with the locals!
Linton Falls - We depart Grassington and make our way to the beautiful Linton Falls. It is only a very short drive away so, if you prefer, you have the option to take the short walk from the Visitor Centre car park down the old stone path to the falls at Linton and meet your guide on the bridge over the river Wharfe.
Bolton Abbey - The main afternoon stop is at Bolton Abbey, where entry is free and you will be able to explore the Priory Church and ruins of the 12th Century Augustinian Priory in its beautiful riverside setting, or maybe take the stepping stones challenge if you are feeling more adventurous!
Harrogate - We leave Bolton Abbey to continue our journey through the Dales back towards York, passing through Harrogate and learning a bit about the history of this famous spa town.

The Beauty of the Yorkshire Moors - It was a nice, relaxing trip across the dales. I loved all the baby lambs! We made several stops. I’m a fan of the new ”All Creatures Great & Small” series so the visit to Grassington where much of it was filmed was interesting. However some of the other stops were far more scenic, especially Bolton Abbey. The guide, Mark, was very personable and spoke clearly.

Herriot and the Yorkshire Dales - Mark was an excellent guide. He kept the tour running on time while making sure we saw all the important sights. He was very knowledgeable about the area, and he offered us great opportunities for photos. Don’t miss the church and cemetery at Masham. Loved seeing the dales and Grassington. It was fun to see Grassington “dressed” for filming All Creatures Great and Small. The walk to Linton Falls down the stone path was so picturesque. And Bolton Abbey was not to be missed. The tour was definitely a highlight of our time in the area.

This fabulous tour of the Yorkshire Dales - The guide, Mark, was outstanding. He conversed with each of us at different times along the way, pointing out highlights and describing the history, the highs and lows of living in the beautiful Dales, and made the excursion so very enjoyable. In the 2 weeks I was in England, this tour was a standout. I will be singing the praises of this experience for many years, and will highly recommend it to anyone I learn who will be traveling to York as well as being a huge fan of All Creatures Great and Small.

Breathtaking scenery and worthy drive - Beautiful drive through the Dales and the landmarks. The driver was an excellent host and very considerate to take pictures for us. I wished that the tour included Thirsk where the actual vet practice took place and experience the vet life there. It was fun and a memorable experience as well.

Scenic Beauty in the Dales With a Great Guide - Our guide Chris was so knowledgable on every aspect of the Dales. He knew about the geology, the history, culture, archeology and landscape of this picturesque area. He was also an excellent driver on the curvy roads. When we made a stop, he accompanied us and explained specific things about what we were seeing. He also asked what we were specifically interested in and tried to accommodate that interest. We also had the chance to visit the village where they are doing the filming for the series All Creatures Great and Small. That was an added bonus as I am a fan of the show. Chris was the perfect example of a friendly Yorkshire person. what a wonderful day. Thank you. Gerry Winnipeg, Canada

Stunning!! - I would highly recommend this wonderful tour. The countryside was stunning and the villages looked like picture postcards. Our guide, Chris, was incredibly knowledgeable of both the landscape and history of the area. He made a beautiful trip even more enjoyable!
