What’s included

A welcome Hooting Owl gin, rum or vodka with mixer of your choice.

You’ll tour our distillery where you’ll learn all about the distillation process and what makes Hooting Owl so special.

Our distiller will take you on a virtual ‘Tour de Yorkshire’ to discover the journey taken by Sir Owlfred Tyton Hodgins (The infamous Hooting Owl) as he created his discerning recipes which you’ll be able to sample throughout the journey.

The tour will finish with a full measure of your choice from our range of 25 artisan spirits.

Once the tour is complete you’re welcome to stay with us and soak up the atmosphere. Our bar is open from 11am to 11pm 7 days a week.

Great value and great fun - Entertaining and informative host. Lots of local history and lots gin history. Plenty of free samples which is never a bad thing. Bought a few bottles while we were there to enjoy at home. Will definitely be buying more online.

Great place to chill & while away the hours - Fab find on the way into York from the train station, some great gins to try made in their own distillery , good pizzas & salad in comfortable well thought out surroundings with a great track list to boot , popped in on our way home too

Definitely worth a visit. - Fantastic, well worth the money. Great talk about how the gin is made. Then the tasting begins wow each taste is explained and then you realise how much is put into making it. Part two the rum not a fan but we are now!! Bottles bought so the experience continues. Thank you and couldn’t rate it enough.

Amazing - If I could give it more then five I would the man who gave the tour was very funny and knowledgeable we ended up buy more then we should because the gins were all so nice would recommend to all to go

Absolutely fabulous and informative. - Took some visiting friends from the south on the Hooting Owl distillery tour. We can’t recommend this enough. Tom our guide for the day had the right amount of knowledge and whit which made the tour very enjoyable this was enhanced further by the quality of the distillery’s products sampled. As a testament several bottles were purchased and taken home.

Brilliant and totally worth it! - We did this as part of our Wedding Anniversary few days spent in York. Mark, our guide was absolutely brilliant- full of stories and anecdotes and very informative on the history of gin and other alcohol/ spirits. Totally enjoyed the experience- thank you so much.

Brilliant tour - We literally arrived at this venue 10 mins before a tour started and the staff were really accommodating in adding as on to the tour and we were so glad they did. We had a fantastic time guided by the very excellent and entertaining host, Mark. Would thoroughly recommend this tour as it is as entertaining as it is informative and includes tastings of all the fabulous gins in a very nice and comfortable surrounding .

Great experience - Dom and Paul were great hosts, made the whole visit really interesting. My wife isn’t a gin drinker but they won her over with a great range of Gin samples and mixers. Good value and great entertainment, good luck for the future in your new premises guys, the new bar is amazing.

10/10 - We had an amazing time at the Hooting Owl distillery yesterday! Mark gave us a tour of the distillery, explained about the process of the making of their spirits (gin, vodka and rum) and then took us upstairs for the guided tasting. This part of the tour was particularly fun and full of very interesting facts and fun anecdotes about the story, politics and other aspects of the business. At the end of the tour we were able to sit down in the beautiful lounge area to finish our complimentary drinks and we even purchased a bottle of the Hooting Owl Mocha flavoured rum. Absolutely recommend to try it out! Thank you to all the staff that made this experience amazing and memorable! A great way to celebrate your birthday!

Excellent tasting tour! - Excellent tasting tour in a lovely setting. A generous range of great gin samples (plus a delightful spiced rum) accompanied by informative stories from great host Mark about the histories of gin and Hooting Owl. Highly recommended!
