Allow us to guide you through York’s alleyways and lanes as we narrate tales of the city’s phantoms.
Please note: The tour holds a PG rating and is not suggested for children under 8.
The stories often undergo changes but do include comprehensive historical facts, some which may be grim, sorrowful, or gruesome.
These stories may consist of public hangings, pestilence, self-destruction or other bleak events.

Great spooky tour. - This tour around York was very informative, me and my husband love watching and following the shadows of York so we couldn't wait to go on this tour. We were not disappointed, josh our guide was great, very funny at times. We learnt so much, for the money it was worth it. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Although weather wasn’t... - Although weather wasn’t favourable , we had nice walk . Our guide Josh was real gem. Had so much fun with those chilling stories. Lived it.

Definitely recommend this tour - A fantastic tour, Josh was excellent guide. It’s a good mix of stories and history but the main thing was that it’s entertaining and engaging. We went as family of 4 including 2 teens and we all enjoyed it.

Fantastic Tour - Dan was welcoming from the outset and created a friendliness amongst the group. He was professional in dealing with an unwanted youth but this did not impact negatively on the experience.
Dan was a fantastic host who was able to bring interesting ghost stories to life without being overly dramatic.
Ghost stories aside Dan was knowledgeable about York’s history and took the time to answer questions in-between the stories.
Would definitely recommend.

Shadows of York is excellent.! - Dan was superb hi knowledge of the city was great, his story telling skills were brilliant, everyone on this group were gripped as he went through them. A good steady pace as we walked. Unfortunately we had a group of rowdy kids trying to disrput the group but Dan looked after the group with proffesionalism and dealt with the minor issue very well I thought. Overall though thoroughly recommend this tour.!

Fantastic tour, great guide - Really enjoyed our tour, the guide was funny, very knowledgeable and a really nice guy, he took the time to speak to each family group, and asked out their visit to york, it was fun to hear history and ghost stories. Great to see places that you wouldn't have normally walked past and thought twice about. Nice to walk down the empty shambles street. Glad we did the tour, it finished our day out very nicely. Thankyou. Highly recommended x

Loved It! - Really enjoyable ghost walk. My son (10 years old) and I have done a few and this was by far the best. Good mix of history and ghost stories. Luke was our guide, very nice and exstensive knowlege. Took time to chat with everyone between stories as we walked from place to place and answered any questions. There was also some different stories which we hadn't heard on other tours which was great. 5*. Thank you

Ghost stories on a windy rainy evening…perfect! - He has a voice that is perfect for this kind of an experience to be lots of fun. Add another story or two to better illustrate the era and local superstitions

A great ghost walk - We had a great time on our ghost walk. The guide was enthusiastic, knowledgable and entertaining. We saw lots of sites around York and the tour appealed to all ages. This is the second time we have done this tour with the same guide and we would definitely do it again.

Amazing - Never done anything like this before and we are so happy we did. Dan was amazing couldn’t have asked for a better tour he was so funny and brilliant story telling. I’m definitely coming back
