Memorable Walking Tour of York - We stayed at the Guy Fawkes Inn and were eligible for a complimentary tour. My wife and I were the only ones on it so it was effectively a private tour. Dave was prepared to spend the whole day with us and nearly did but for the fact our train home was at 4.30. He has extensive knowledge about everything in York but importantly he is full of enthusiasm for his subject which is great to see. He's very flexible adapting his tour to suit individual needs and stopping for refreshments on request. We all enjoyed a drink in the Blue Boar famous for Dick Turpin. If and when we revisit York we'll be in touch with Dave for a tour when there's less time pressure. Would thoroughly recommend Dave Haw to give you a tour if you are in York. Last but not least Dave is a genuine, friendly and overall a decent bloke.

Excellent tour, very knowledgeable - Excellent walking tour. Dave shared a wealth of information about the history of York. Took the time to explain each landmark/area we stopped at in detail. Very informative! Tour was approximately 2 hours. I happened to be the only one who joined so it was just Dave and I but it was very very good

The perfect tour guide - Our tour guide was amazing. He is apparently a fixture in York, because everyone we passed, seems to know him and called him out by name. My family, our history buffs, and he really demonstrated a vast knowledge of York, it’s architecture, important, political, and religious figures in its history. We particularly enjoyed his detailed tour of the York Minister. I can’t recommend him enough.

Factual , humorous interesting tour - Fantastic trip. Dave is full of interesting knowledge about the Minster where we started. Funny odd facts made the tour interesting. He went over from 10.30 to 1.30. We did a tour off all the abbey grounds , shambles, to the castle. Little alleyways and great photo shots from different angles. Thanks

The tour guide who became family! - Dave is a gem! We spent an entire day with him and he introduced us to so many treasures in York. And so many people in York stopped over to say hello to Dave and he introduced us to them as if we were old friends. We connected with Dave on an amazing level over our shared love of English history, more specifically Tudor and Plantagenet history. We spent amazing time in the cathedral, invited him to have English tea with us at Betty's and later that evening, he joined us for Evensong at the cathedral. We were so sad to have to say goodbye but we plan on returning to York and hope to spend more time with him and his amazing friends who are also guides in the cathedral. Thank you Dave - you are officially a member of the Lee family and we hope to connect with you soon so we can keep in touch via emails and shared photos.

Dave Haw is a humble genius! Great tour - We stayed at Guy Faulkes Inn which was Amazing!!! Dave Haw was so personable and his knowledge of English history was literally mind-blowing!! York was just a quick stopover on a train from Southampton to Scotland and Dave helped make York one of our favorite days on our 21 day trip! So Fun! Incredible bargain too!

Our tour did not go as we... - Our tour did not go as we had hoped. With limited time that day, we wanted to quickly visit specific places but the tour started late and we ended up spending too much time walking around our guide's favorites before finally seeing areas we wanted to visit. Our desired tour spots were generally derided and it seemed we were only going to be shown places our guide deemed of merit. But this affected the limited time we had to do other things that same day, so we were unable to accomplish all we had hoped. Plus, we didn't appreciate being asked to include others in a private tour we paid for, or our guide's habit of conversing with other guides in passing which interrupted their tour as well as ours. I decided it best to end our tour early to see & do things we wanted while we still had time.
