Formed during the war by the Rev Tubby Clayton Talbot House and Gardens quickly became a spiritual resting place for soldiers fresh from the horror of the trenches. All ranks were welcome here and all were equal, officers rubbing shoulders with the men. As Tubby Clayton said ‘ Abandon all rank all ye who enter here’.
