Chichenitza Cenote tour with guide "Paco" Flores - On this particular trip we were a group of 15. We were a little tight in our van but half way through our day trip our tour guide Francisco "Paco" Flores upgraded our vehicle to a bigger more comfortable one. This was just one of many positive comments I have for our guide "Paco". His patience and driving skills are excellent. I sat in front and chatted with him the whole time. He was very friendly and responsive. At Chichenitza his passion for archeology, tour guiding, and the local people and culture become apparent. He gave us a well guided, and in depth tour of the site which I will remember for a long time to come. The Cenote was amazing from the repel down to the zip line inside. For the less adventurous there are stairs down, or a ramp down to the amazing, clear, cool, water. I truly believe the tour guide makes the difference between an OK time or an amazing time. So.... if you want an amazing time try and catch a ride with "Paco" Flores.

Better Combined with a Archaeological Tour! - If you are visiting the Riviera Maya or Cancún, I recommend utilizing the company Alltournative for your day-trips when available and priced competitively. Their Cenote Maya and 'Native Park' was developed exclusively for their own use and will likely leave you feeling a little underwhelmed on its own. My recommendation is to find a day-trip that combines these attractions with an archaeological tour. Alltournative is an above-average organization of integrity encouraging sustainable tourism, which is why I recommend them over other similarly priced companies. The park employs local residents and and the company works with local communities on methods for recycling non-biodegradable materials like plastic and rubber. They take care to respect both the environment and the beliefs of the local Maya, performing a ritual purification ceremony before entering the cenote and strictly forbidding all electronics. While their reason for banning phones and cameras is a practical one (not poisoning the local water supply!), they do take advantage of the scenario by taking and selling professional pictures of your descent into the cenote. You are not obligated to buy anything, but any money you spend will go back into the local economy and local Maya communities. Despite being a little overpriced, it is worth considering a photo memento for this reason. The cenote experience is like many others. Most people will rappel from the opening at the top down into the water, though they do offer a tunnel entrance for the faint of heart. They serve a local, organic, vegetable-forward lunch with unlimited fresh tortillas and aguas frescas. There are many similar cenotes and eco-parks in Yucatán, so what sets this one apart from the rest is the company behind it. Their respect of the environment and the community, as well as their focus on sustainability, have made me a repeat customer. Their cenote is enjoyable (if unremarkable), but the company offers some excellent combined tours that are worth exploring while you are visiting the region.

Amazing experience - Great experience, nature, adrenaline and gourmet. Armando guide is great, I had an issue with a height fear but he helped me to go down in the cave. Only negative side is bad road- we had rent a car.

An Awesome Return to Cenote Maya! - We have been there as part of a tour twice before. This time we purchased tickets through TripAdvisor , rented a car from Cancun and ventured on our own. Everything was awesome!! The Cenote and it’s activities are super fun. The staff is kind and knowledgeable. The food is delicious. We will return when we go back to the area!!

Poor customer service - My husband and I took this tour which also included the Chitzen Itza tour. The guide was late to pick us up and drop us off. Also, on the return trip the driver was drinking Tecate (beer) with a van full of passengers. When asking why we were running late to be dropped off (we would miss our ferry) the guide began talking crap about us in Spanish, not knowing that despite being American, I could speak Spanish. When we would ask him questions during the tour he would reply with "no one really knows". Go with a different company.
