Highlights

Yulara & Uluru Sunset

Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre - Your eight-day journey kicks off at 2 pm, where you’ll meet your Storyteller Guide in front of the Desert Gardens Hotel. After introductions, visit the Cultural Centre in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to immerse yourself in its stunning natural beauty and rich culture. Uluru and Kata Tjuta are spiritually significant, with many creation stories converging here. While many stories remain secret, you’ll gain insights into the local Anangu culture through exhibits and presentations by Anangu and park rangers.

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park - After setting up camp this evening, head to a viewing platform to witness the famous changing colors of Uluru at sunset. This is a perfect moment to reflect on the vastness of the desert.

Ayers Rock Campground - Tonight, bond with your fellow travelers over a campfire dinner. Roll out your Aussie swag for the first time under a sky full of stars. Today, we drive approximately 60km.

Uluru

Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park - Rise early to experience the serenity of a sunrise over Uluru. As the sunlight interacts with the landscape, the rock formations change color before your eyes. Next, get up close to Uluru, one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. Standing at 348 meters high and around 550 million years old, it exudes a powerful presence. A guided 10km base walk around Uluru offers the best opportunity to connect with the rock and learn its stories. Relax by tranquil waterholes, rest under a magnificent Sheoak tree, and explore hidden caves.

Ayers Rock Resort - After lunch, join a fun and inspiring dot painting workshop with a talented local Anangu artist and interpreter. During this 1.5-hour authentic experience, you’ll learn about ancient symbols used in Anangu art and teachings, and some introductory Pitjantjatjara words (the local language). Use this knowledge to create your own artwork to take home.

Ayers Rock Campground - Return to camp for some free time. Relax by the pool or participate in activities at Ayers Rock Resort, such as a didgeridoo performance, a guided garden walk, or exploring artifacts at the museum. Enjoy a delicious dinner at camp tonight. Today, we drive approximately 50km. You may walk up to 10km if you do the full Uluru base walk, but shorter walks are available.

Yulara to Kings Canyon / Watarrka

Kata Tjuta - The Olgas - This morning, we leave Yulara and head towards Watarrka National Park and Kings Canyon. First, experience the untamed beauty of Kata Tjuta. Rising 546 meters above the ground, this sacred site is a defining feature of the Red Centre. Translating to the Pitjantjatjara word for ‘Many Heads’, the site’s ridges and ravines are linked to numerous Indigenous creation stories. Embark on the Valley of the Winds guided walk for an unforgettable nature experience. A sanctuary for plants and animals, including wallabies and wildflowers, we’ll wander along the narrow creek valley between two of Kata Tjuta’s largest domes.

Kings Creek Station - This afternoon, arrive at our camp at Kings Creek Station and enjoy some relaxation time before dinner at your leisure. Today, we cover about 325km.

Kings Canyon to Coober Pedy

Kings Canyon - Start early for the breathtaking Kings Canyon Rim Walk, one of the most magical experiences of your life. With its 300-meter-high sandstone walls, hidden waterholes, fern forests, chasms, canyons, and caverns, Watarrka National Park is central Australia’s oasis. Enjoy 360-degree views and explore Priscilla’s Crack, made famous by the classic Australian movie “Priscilla Queen of the Desert.” See the sandstone domes known as the Lost City and the lush Garden of Eden.

Coober Pedy - Rest your legs and settle in for a long drive as we travel across the Northern Territory and South Australian border. There are plenty of stops along the way before arriving in Coober Pedy, the ‘Opal Capital of the World.’ Due to extreme temperatures, most of the town is underground, with residents living in cave-like houses carved into the hillsides. Tonight, stay in a unique underground bunkhouse and have free time to explore and dine at one of the many eateries. Today, we cover approximately 760km.

Coober Pedy to William Creek

Coober Pedy - Lunch & Free time in town

William Creek to Flinders Ranges via the Oodnadatta Track*

Skytrek Willow Springs Station - After a delicious dinner prepared by your Guide, relax and enjoy one of the most spectacular light shows on Earth. The Flinders Ranges is known for having some of the clearest skies in the Southern Hemisphere. Opt for an optional stargazing experience with an expert astronomer and physicist. Take a short drive from camp and, using a 10-inch reflecting telescope, view constellations, globular clusters, nebulae, and the planets Saturn and Jupiter. Experiences range from $90 to $190 per person and can be arranged with your Guide on the day. Roll out your swag under a sea of stars and spend the evening marveling at the Milky Way and counting constellations. Today, we drive approximately 500km.

Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park

Wilpena Pound - Ancient gorges invite exploration, and beauty reveals itself at every turn. Put on your hiking boots for a trek through tall river red gums and pines, past waterholes and a historic ruined homestead, culminating in breathtaking views over the surrounding wilderness. After a picnic lunch, take a scenic drive through Brachina Gorge.

Skytrek Willow Springs Station - Finally, return to camp to relax and have our final dinner together. The total driving distance today is approximately 160km.

Flinders Ranges to Adelaide

Arkaroo Rock - After our final breakfast together, roll up your swag one last time and set out on the Arkaroo Rock Trail, which offers impressive views over the Chace Range. Arkaroo Rock is also a significant cultural site for the Adnyamathanha people, featuring rock art that depicts the Yura Muda (Dreaming or creation story) of Ikara.

Alligator Gorge - Enjoy a picnic lunch before traveling to Alligator Gorge in the Southern Flinders Ranges. Located in Mount Remarkable National Park, this is the perfect way to end the tour.

Adelaide - Our final stretch on the road takes us through the picturesque Clare Valley wine region before arriving in Adelaide around 6 pm. Today, we travel approximately 450km.

Authentic, engaged intake of the Australian desert wonders - This was an incredible experience! Amazing views, beautiful sunrise hikes, (bush) camping in swags and learning so much about geological and cultural history. My tour group was very small which created a very relaxed dynamic. No one was left behind or left out. Teamwork makes the dream work. Sid, our tour guide, is pretty damn awesome in what he does. I learned so much about these parts of Australia and he really kept me engaged because he showed authenticity and genuine engagement with people and his surroundings. He was very professional and cool even when things went a little south (blown out tire with a very long drive ahead). He had to stray away from the itinerary a couple of times but I fully trusted him to give us the best experience on this tour. He noticed when you took an interest in learning specific things and would try and teach you about what he knows. Also shoutout to Gary, who was a trainee tour guide. He'll do great on his first tour through the desert and that group will be lucky to have him. This part of Australia is so unique compared to the east coast and south. It's definitely in my top 2 of tours I've been on.

The trip of a lifetime !!! - Where to start ? I had the time of my life doing the 8 days tour from Uluru to Adelaide Going to Uluru was my dream since I am 6 years old, and it was so much better than I expected thanks to you guys. Not only Uluru, but all the other places (Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta, Coober Pedy, Flinders Rangers....) were stunning ! It was not just about visiting these places and taking pictures, we also learned stories about this beautiful sacred places thanks to our guide Lauren. Even stopping at Petrol station was an experience ! The australian desert is so special and all these places are so spiritual !! The food ! OMG, it was better than going to the restaurant. Our superstar Lauren was incredible, and we had a feast every single day ! Warm porridge, curry, pumpkin soup, kangarou skewers (or tofu for vegetarians), she even made bread !! I miss her food already ! The accommodation The two nights in a tent at Uluru, was great ! Nice and comfy, perfect to start the trip The underground accommodation in Coober Pedy was so fun and comfy as well ! The swag ! What an experience ! I was a bit nervous about it, but it was actually one of my best experience since I am in Oz ! What is better that a 5* hotel ? A million-star swag ! I remember waking up in the middle of one night, looking at the sky and thinking how blessed I was to be here :-) We were a small group (just 3 passengers and Lauren our guide), and I had so much fun. We were like a small family, I laughed so much during this trip and was so sad to leave them. Last but not least, our guide, Lauren. I could speak about Lauren for hours. She is a role model to me. Lauren has such a beautiful energy, she loves what she does, and she is so good at it. She can cook, she can drive a bus, she can take care of you, she is patient, lovely, funny and so much more. As I said to her, I don't need a man in my life, I need a Lauren haha :-) Thank you so much for this amazing incredible experience, just thinking about it, I still have goose bumps. Ana
