Chongqing-Guilin Customized City Highlights (L)

Chongqing Railway Station - The driver will be waiting in the lobby of the Chongqing hotel with a name sign, ready to transfer guests to the train station for a 4.5-hour bullet train journey to Guilin.

Upon arrival, the tour guide will be at the exit of the arrival hall with a name sign. Guests will board a private air-conditioned vehicle to begin a personalized tour of the city’s attractions. The knowledgeable guide will assist in planning an itinerary based on the guests’ interests. Then, the exploration begins.

Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbishan) - Typically, the tour starts with Elephant Trunk Hill.

Elephant Trunk Hill is a landmark of Guilin and has been a renowned tourist destination since the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907). The hill resembles a giant elephant drinking from the river.

Enjoy a lively walk to the top, visit the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644) Puxian Tower, built to honor Samantabhadra. Learn about its history from the tour guide, then take in the panoramic views of the city, Li River, and surrounding scenery.

Yunfeng Temple - Continue to Yunfeng Temple, one of Guilin’s famous ancient temples. It was the residence of Monk Jianzhen, a prominent monk of the Tang Dynasty, who traveled to Japan six times to spread Buddhist teachings and help regulate monks’ conduct. Stroll around the temple and the exhibition gallery on the second floor.

Fubo Hill - Proceed to Guilin Fubo Hill. Fubo Hill stands beside the Li River and rises dramatically from the landscape, known for its natural beauty and historic art.

Follow the tour guide to explore Buddha etchings from the Song and Tang Dynasties (618 - 1279) at Thousand-Buddha Cave and Pearl-Returning Cave. Admire the Sword-Testing Rock and learn the legendary stories behind it.

Reed Flute Cave (Ludi Yan) - Next, head to Reed Flute Cave. Over millions of years, dripping water has shaped the cave into a unique world of stalactites, stone pillars, and rock formations. Explore key spots like Tower-shaped Pine and Crystal Palace. Despite the stunning natural scenery inside Reed Flute Cave, there are many writings on the wall, including 77 travelogues and poems from the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

Then, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

Seven Star Park (Qixing Gongyuan) - In the afternoon, stroll around Seven Stars Park. The park features elegant mountains, clear water, a miraculous stone forest, serene valleys, abundant wildlife, and cultural relics. It has been popular since the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) Dynasties.

Cross the Flower Bridge, built in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the oldest bridge in Guilin.

Putuo Mountain - Explore Putuo Mountain, where Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is worshiped. It is rich with caves and pavilions. At the top, find Putuo Stone Forest, Xuanwu Pavilion, and Zhaixing Pavilion. Additionally, there are numerous valuable tablets on the mountain. Guests can choose how far they wish to explore.

After the tour, guests will be transferred to their hotel in Guilin.

Guilin-Yangshuo (B, L)

Li River - The private English-speaking guide and driver will pick up guests from the hotel lobby at 8:00 am and transfer them to Zhujiang Pier to embark on a boat cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo County. The Li River Cruise is a highlight of any visit to Guilin.

Gui Lin Zhujiang Pier - Along the river, enjoy breathtaking views of peaks and pinnacles, crystal-clear water, and picturesque pastoral countryside. The river has three sections, with various attractions like peaks and villages that have intriguing descriptive names, sparking imagination. Listening to the tour guide’s legendary stories about the attractions enhances the experience. Most stories are mystical fairy tales and love stories. The cruise typically lasts 3.5 to 4 hours, depending on water conditions.

Xingping Fishing Village - The Li River takes a significant turn at Xingping, offering beautiful and poetic scenery. It has been depicted in many Chinese landscape paintings. The newly-issued 20 RMB note features this scenery on its back. A photographer once remarked, “Shots from any perspective of this place are impressive and stunning.”

A simple lunch will be served on the boat.

West Street - Arrive in Yangshuo at 1:30 pm, and stroll around West Street with the tour guide, exploring various shops, craft shops, painting and calligraphy stores, backpack shops, and cafes. The tour guide will assist in negotiating prices if guests wish to purchase souvenirs.

Shili Hualang - In the afternoon, explore the Ten-Mile Gallery in Yangshuo.

Walking down a country road feels like traveling in a painting. This is true of the Ten-Mile Gallery in Yangshuo County, a fairyland on earth. As the name suggests, Ten-Mile Gallery is a picturesque road stretching from the Yangshuo town area to Moon Hill, featuring rolling hills, endless fields, idyllic villages, and clear rivers on both sides.

Guilin Butterfly Spring - Along Ten-Mile Gallery, there are several famous sites not to be missed, such as Butterfly Spring Park. In the park, peculiar peaks, grotesque rocks, magnificent waterfalls, and bubbling springs are abundant. A winding path leads to the sightseeing terrace, offering a bird’s eye view of Ten-Mile Gallery.

Big Banyan Tree - As the journey through Ten-Mile Gallery continues, encounter a Big Banyan Tree, over 1,400 years old. Follow the tour guide to stroll around, learn about the love story of Liusanjie, and see how new lovers come here to make wishes for their future.

Moon Hill - The last stop is Moon Hill. Inform the tour guide if photos are desired.

After the tour, guests will be transferred to their hotel in Yangshuo.

Yangshuo-Longji Rice Terrace (B, L)

Longji Rice Terrace Scenic Spot - Meet the tour guide in the lobby of the Yangshuo hotel, board a private air-conditioned vehicle, and head directly to Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces, a 2-hour journey. Enjoy the scenery along the way.

Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces - The construction of the incredible Longji Rice Terraces began in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) and continued until the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). It is renowned as one of the most beautiful rice terraces in the world. Two main viewing areas are the Ping’an Zhuang Village Terraced Fields and the Jinkeng Terraced Fields, where Zhuang and Yao Minority people have lived for centuries.

Huangluo - The first stop is Huangluo Long Hair Village, where an amazing long hair show can be enjoyed. Huangluo village in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is home to descendants of the Yao ethnicity. The women here are known for their red embroidered dresses and long hair, earning the village recognition as the “world’s longest hair village” by Guinness World Records. The long hair of the Yao women is a symbol of auspiciousness. Lunch will be served in the local village.

Dazhai - During lunch, discuss with the tour guide the preferred itinerary, then set off to explore. Typically, the tour starts with the Jinkeng/Dazhai Rice Terrace.

There are three popular viewpoints at Dazhai: Music from Paradise, Thousand Layers to the Heavens, and Golden Buddha Peak.

Guests will drive 40 minutes to Dazhai (Hongyao Jinkeng) Rice Terrace. Take a convenient cable car for about 20 minutes directly to Golden Buddha Peak. During the cable car ride, enjoy the amazing view of No. 3 sightseeing zone. Upon arrival, follow the tour guide for an easy walk around to capture photos from different locations, offering unexpected shots. Take time to visit locations for exploring and creating fantastic photographs. After the tour, descend by cable car. Guests can choose to end the tour in Longsheng or return to Guilin.

Ping’an Village - The second option for this tour is to visit Ping’an Rice Terrace after lunch. Drive 30 minutes to Ping’an village. Follow the tour guide to hike and explore. Compared to Dazhai Rice Terrace, Ping’an village is smaller in scale but still offers beautiful, undulating, and intricate scenery that lives up to the name “dragon’s spine.” Explore two famous scenic spots - West Hill Music or No.1 viewing platform, and Large-scale Thousand-Layer Terraces or No.2 viewing platform.

After the tour, guests can choose to end the tour in Longsheng/Yangshuo/Guilin or return to Chongqing.
