Barriers, sills and other forms created in these lakes, karst rivers and streams are still an ongoing process that shapes the wonderful landscape. Situated in the heart of Croatia, the Plitvice Lakes National Park spans across 295 square kilometers of forested land. The park is distinguished by its 16 cascading lakes that form a beautiful chain, interconnected by waterfalls, and they flow down into a limestone ravine. A network of pathways and hiking tracks snake around and course across the waters, with a ferry service on Lake Kozjak providing a link between the higher and lower lakes. These lower lakes play host to Veliki Slap, a spectacular waterfall that stands 78 meters tall.
