Highlights
  • Plitvice Lakes National Park - Discover Plitvice Lakes, one of the oldest and largest national parks in Croatia. The unity and harmony of the 16 lakes and their rare natural and cultural value is not only famous throughout Croatia, but also worldwide. Its beautiful landscape, crystal clear waters and amazing waterfalls earned this remarkable national park a place on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites. Arriving at Plitvice, you’ll walk through these ancient woodlands, narrow paths along the lakes and waterfalls.

Wherever you are in Plitvice, you will find the lakes separared by travertine marble formations. Barriers, sills and other forms created in these lakes, karst rivers and streams are still an ongoing process that shapes the wonderful landscape. It is these same travertine formations that have and are still creating the numerous magnificent waterfalls here.

Additional Information

Situated in the heart of Croatia, the Plitvice Lakes National Park spans across 295 square kilometers of forested land. The park is distinguished by its 16 cascading lakes that form a beautiful chain, interconnected by waterfalls, and they flow down into a limestone ravine. A network of pathways and hiking tracks snake around and course across the waters, with a ferry service on Lake Kozjak providing a link between the higher and lower lakes. These lower lakes play host to Veliki Slap, a spectacular waterfall that stands 78 meters tall.
