- Ban Josip Jelačić Square - The food tour begins at the central square of Zagreb, known officially as Ban Jelačić Square, but referred to by locals as Jelačić plac. Situated just below the old city cores of Kaptol and Gradec, the square was called Harmica in the 17th century and served as a marketplace for the entire town. Today, it is the heart of the city, hosting most of Zagreb’s major events.
- European Square - A short walk brings us to European Square, overlooked by the cathedral and frequently hosting outdoor events like craft markets and DJ sets. Here, you can view a miniature model of Zagreb, showcasing all its major locations and streets.
- Ul. Augusta Cesarca 2 - The first restaurant offers a cold appetizer from the Istrian region. Guests will learn about Istra’s culinary customs while enjoying their wine and a region-specific cold dish.
- Market Dolac - The tour continues to Dolac Market, a farmers market that has been a popular destination since 1930. Dolac holds significant historical and cultural importance to Zagreb and Croatia, combining a traditional open market with a sheltered market.
- Dolac 2 - The second restaurant provides warm appetizers from the Zagreb region. These regional dishes and drinks will satisfy your appetite and enhance the rest of the tour.
- Tkalciceva Street - Next, we stroll through Tkalčićeva Street, the most vibrant street in Zagreb. This street offers a glimpse into the colorful local life, blending Zagreb’s past and present with numerous cafes, small restaurants, traditional shops, and boutiques.
- Stone Gate - The Stone Gate, one of Zagreb’s most important monuments, is our next stop. Originally part of the city’s 13th-century defense system, it is now a site of pilgrimage where people of faith come to pray and light candles, creating a serene atmosphere for all visitors.
- Cathedral of Zagreb - The tour then visits the Zagreb Cathedral, a Roman Catholic church and the second tallest building in Croatia. Built in the Gothic style, its awe-inspiring architecture, especially its two spires, is visible from various parts of the city. The cathedral also houses a treasury with important religious documents and items.
- Saint Mark’s Square - Next, we visit Saint Mark’s Square in the old town of Zagreb, home to the Croatian parliament and sharing its name with a church.
- Lotrščak Tower - We then pass Lotrščak Tower, a symbol of Zagreb and a formidable defense tower from the past, located in Gradec and one of the last remnants of the city’s ancient defense system.
- Uspinjača - On the way to the third restaurant, we pass the world’s shortest funicular ride, the Uspinjača stairs, which was the first form of public transportation in Zagreb and the world.
- Strossmayer Promenade - This leads us to the iconic Strossmayer Promenade, offering the best panoramic views of Zagreb. Enjoy its romantic vibes and capture stunning photos.
- Mesnička ul. 6 - At the third restaurant, guests will experience a main dish specific to the regions of Zagreb and Zagorje, learning about the culinary culture of the city and Croatia. The restaurant also features historical replicas and fascinating pictures.
- Mesnička ul. 19 - After the restaurant, we pass through Tunnel Grič in the city center. Grič is a historic part of Zagreb, and the tunnel, built during World War II, served as a bomb shelter and promenade before becoming a pedestrian tunnel.
- Krvavi Most - The Bloody Bridge, an infamous street, leads us to the final restaurant of the day. Named for the numerous conflicts between the small cities of Kaptol and Gradec, which later formed Zagreb, this small street witnessed many epic battles.
