Highlights

Meet your friendly guide in the city center. The tour begins with a visit to the cathedral, the tallest religious building in the city and perhaps the most iconic. After an in-depth tour of the Cathedral’s interior, proceed to the bustling Dolac open market. Your guide will share insights about the local cuisine as fresh and homemade ingredients are sold here daily. Feel free to ask for recommendations on the best gifts for your loved ones back home.

Next, head to Tkalčićeva Street, the busiest street in the city center and the heart of its nightlife. This narrow street is now filled with trendy bars, clubs, and restaurants, but it once housed a creek that divided the twin cities of Kaptol and Gradec, Zagreb’s predecessors.

The walking tour continues through the Blood Stained Bridge, Radićeva Street, and the Stone Gate as you make your way up to the Upper Town - Gradec. Points of interest here include the Jesuit baroque church of St. Catherine, St. Mark’s Church with its distinctive colorful roof, the seats of the Croatian Parliament and Government, the City Hall, and various museums.

Next, visit the Lotrščak Tower, famous for its cannon that fires at noon daily to mark the exact time. This spot also offers a panoramic view of Zagreb, perfect for a selfie. From there, take a stroll along the beautiful Strossmayer Promenade, a favorite spot for locals on romantic walks, and enjoy a pleasant ride on the Zagreb funicular, known for being the shortest in the world at only 66 meters long, towards the Lower Town.

The final stops on the Zagreb private tour are the Flower Square and Jelačić Square, named after Ban Josip Jelačić, a prominent figure in Croatia’s history. The tour concludes with more interesting stories and curious facts from your knowledgeable guide.

Great tour! - Our tour guide, Nened, arrived at the hotel promptly. He was dressed professional and spent some time with us telling his plan for the tour but also asking us if there was something in particular we wanted to do. We then left the hotel and walked around Zagreb for a couple of hours visiting the major sites. Nened was excellent about explaining the historic and current aspects of the attractions and of Croatian history. He had a good sense of humor and even gave us some shopping tips that only locals would know. We never felt hurried and overall had a great experience. Thanks Nened.
