Setting Sail on a Family Adventure
As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for unique experiences that can bring us closer together while exploring the wonders of the world. When I heard about the Zakynthos Turtle Watching Tour, I knew it was a must-do for our family trip to Greece. The promise of seeing the majestic Caretta Caretta turtles and exploring the enchanting Keri caves was too tempting to resist.
Our day began bright and early, as we joined other eager families at the marina of Agios Sostis. The excitement was palpable as we boarded the comfortable boat, complete with shaded seating and a glass bottom for optimal viewing. With only 23 seats, it felt like an intimate adventure, perfect for our family of four. As we set sail, the sun was shining, and the sea was a brilliant shade of blue, setting the stage for a day of discovery.
Turtle Spotting and Cave Exploring
Our first stop was the famous Laganas Bay, where we were on a mission to spot the elusive Caretta Caretta turtles. The anticipation was building as we scanned the waters, and soon enough, we were rewarded with the sight of these incredible creatures gliding gracefully through the sea. The kids were absolutely thrilled, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder at witnessing such a beautiful part of nature.
Next, we headed to the Keri Caves, a place that seemed straight out of a fairy tale. Accessible only by sea, these caves were a hidden gem waiting to be explored. As we approached, the towering cliffs and deep blue waters created a breathtaking scene. We were given the chance to swim and explore the caves, and it was an experience that left us all in awe. The kids loved the adventure of swimming into the caves, and it was a perfect opportunity for some family bonding.
A Relaxing End at Marathonisi
Our final stop was the enchanting island of Marathonisi, also known as Turtle Island. This small, private island is a haven for turtles, and its sandy beaches were the perfect spot for a relaxing swim. The kids enjoyed building sandcastles while my husband and I took a moment to soak in the beauty of our surroundings. It was a peaceful end to an action-packed day, and we left with memories that would last a lifetime.
As we sailed back to the marina, I couldn’t help but reflect on the incredible day we had. The Zakynthos Turtle Watching Tour was not only a chance to see some of nature’s wonders but also an opportunity for our family to connect and create lasting memories. If you’re planning a trip to Zakynthos, I highly recommend adding this tour to your itinerary. It’s a family-friendly adventure that you won’t want to miss!
