A Must-Visit Natural Wonderland - ! If you're looking to immerse yourself in Zanzibar's natural beauty, Jozani Forest is a must-visit. As the island’s only national park, it offers an unforgettable experience, blending lush greenery, wildlife, and a tranquil atmosphere. The walk through the forest is serene, with the canopy offering welcome shade. The highlight of the tour is undoubtedly the chance to see the endangered Zanzibar Red Colobus monkeys. These friendly creatures are a joy to observe as they swing through the trees. The knowledgeable guides are fantastic, providing interesting insights into the forest's ecosystem and the conservation efforts in place. Aside from the monkeys, you’ll also encounter diverse plant species, mangrove swamps, and other wildlife. The forest is well-maintained, and the paths are easy to navigate, making it suitable for all ages. Don’t forget to take your camera – the scenery is breathtaking! Jozani Forest is a perfect escape from the beaches, offering a peaceful and enriching experience. Highly recommend!

Great experience! - Loved the forest walks and the blue and red monkeys of Zanzibar. The Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park is a 50 km² national park in Tanzania located on the island of Zanzibar. The forest features an abundance of unique Zanzibar red colobus monkeys… The blue monkey is the Sykes’ monkey - also known as the white-throated monkey or Samango monkey. That is an old world monkey named after English naturalist Colonel William Henry Sykes (1790-1872), and has a large white patch on the throat and upper chest, and a grizzled (not blackish) cap.

Many monkeys and a wonderful tour! - Seif was a wonderful guide. I asked to see red colombus monkeys and he showed me so many. He has great eyes and could spot them much better than I could. He also made sure I got lots of pictures, many of them with the monkeys. He also knows about many other tours and we went to a spice farm. I saw so many spices growing that I lost track. Then he drove out of the way to take me back to my hotel. You will have a great time with Seif.

柔軟なツアー Flexible tours - 柔軟な対応をしてもらいました。蝶を見たいと伝えたところ、戸惑いながらもたくさん見せてくれました。また来たいです。 He was flexible with my requests. When I said I wanted to see butterflies, he showed me many jungle butterflies. We also had the option to visit the butterfly center on the way back. I was able to take some great pictures of frogs, dragonflies, butterflies, and monkeys.

Monkeys and Mangroves - The driver was 20 minutes late which was very worrying and meant that, rather than being amongst the first to arrive at the forest, we were beaten there by a large number of tour buses. The tour itself lived up to expectations, with plenty of monkeys despite the torrential rain.

Expected more of it. - Had expected a lot of it but it was a small walk through a piece of woods and then a drive by car to watch monkeys and then we went with the driver to the turtle and repile park what the route light , no this was a setback.

Saw monkeys up close, with additional forest and mangrove nature walks - Visiting the Jozani Forest requires you to hire a guide. Your experience will depend on the quality/enthusiasm of the guide with whom you happen to be paired. The tour encompasses three separate portions which require a drive from one to the next. You start with a short walk through the forest around the check-in site. The path was well-maintained. Our guide stopped occasionally to point out various plants with traditional medicinal uses. We did see one monkey during this part. Across the main road down a rugged dirt road to a different part of the forest with a more grown-in walking path is where you can see the red colobus monkeys. We saw at least two dozen, old and young. They seemed unperturbed by our group’s presence and came within a meter of us, but kept to their own business jumping around and eating leaves. There were plenty of opportunities for photos. Driving further down the dirt road takes you to the mangroves. There was a sturdy boardwalk and here our guide explained about the monkeys as well as the ecological significance of these plants. Seeing the monkeys was memorable, but the other parts didn’t add much. Hard to say whether the fee of $12 US is worth it for the 1.5-hour visit.

Too expensive for what it is - Jozaniforest was unfortunately not a highlight🙄. We are of course already a bit “wild” but our Guide really sucked 🙉. Despite his young age, he had the enthusiasm of a Nature Guide with a burnout that had been going on for a while, the knowledge of 4 trees and a non-existent interest in birds. “Let’s focus on the tree” he replied when Dominiek asked about the strange whistling that dominated the silence in the forest (for the connoisseurs; something like the sound of the Mustache bird but much brighter). The “pool with many frogs” was also completed quickly. “They are black, you can’t see them”. 🤔. Please proceed. 😆. It was so bad that after a while it became funny, the kids soon realized that this young man had not yet found his "calling". The forest itself is quite beautiful, the mangrove with millions of crabs are also unique to this part of Zanzibar. I hope this young man can take on a new challenge soon because his guiding ambitions are in the freezer,??? We paid $72 for our 6. Way too much for what it is. You'll be done in an hour. I don't understand the three hours they describe.

Rubbish - A waste of money. Dont waste your time or money. Unless you want to see Columbus red monkeys desperately, this is a waste of time. You walk 10 minutes, look at the monkeys. Then 10 more minutes for the mangrove. They charge you $12 entry fee plus the transport.
