A fun, tasty adventure - We really enjoyed the Spice Tour, and learned a lot about the plants and trees where spices grow. It was not what we expected (an actual farm), but we loved it anyways. Our guides were very knowledgeable and friendly, and very accommodating to our older family members with limited mobility, especially in the rain. The traditional Zanzibari lunch was really delicious as was the fruit tasting (the best pineapple we have ever eaten!). It was a bit crowded and touristy, but you'll learn a lot and enjoy the Zanzibari hospitality and fun.

Great Experience! - 10 of us U.S. journalists and professional friends traveled together. The informed and amiable tour guide taught us a lot about how spices are grown on the island. The lunch they cooked for us at the end was, we agreed, one of the best meals we had in Zanzibar - and all were good. Plus, all of us bought some of the great soap, spice, coffee, and other products before leaving. Highly recommend this!

Informative, stress free and interesting - Great Meal! Best of all trips - I was driven to the farm. I had a most intensive tour of all the spice plants and was dressed up in garlands of palm leaves and hibiscus! The meal and the fresh fruit afterwards was a bit of a high point. We saw a man climb a coconut palm and then we ate fresh coconut and drank coconut water. Everything was good and the guide was happy to let me sit and rest as I needed.

Excellent From Start To End! - I led a group of 10 U.S. journalists and friends, and this was one of our planned events. Everybody agreed that it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Amiable, knowledgeable tour guide with an equally excellent assistant. The lunch they prepared for us and served at the end was one of the best meals we had during our stay in Zanzibar, and we all bought some of their coffees, teas, soaps, and other personal care items when we were given the opportunity at the end. This was worth probably twice what it actually cost. We highly recommend it. When I return, this will definitely be on the itinerary again. We went in the latter of June, arguably the best month for weather in Zanzibar. Warm but not hot and humid.

Do not recommend - The spice farm experience was a poor one with this company. First of all, it was way overpriced. Secondly, the tour guide and the information he gave out, seemed very random and not very professional. He made inappropriate nationality jokes and made faces when we did not know some spices or fruits and was verbal about how is it possible certain plants we had never seen or it did not grow in cold climates. He seemed bored during the job. Quite arrogant behaviour and there hopefully are better guides. The tour was supposed to last 4-5 hours but we were back in Stone Town in a bit over 3 hours, so it felt very rushed. The spices and the garden was well kept - seemed to be only for tourism purposes, though. Fruit tasting was nice! We could eat all sorts of tropical fruits. The prices of the spice farm's soaps and spices 2-5x higher than of Stone Town's market Overall for this price and description, we were not satisfied. Probably possible to get the same tour for at least half off when bought from the spot.
