Nice tour - Interesting tour to learn about the production of spices and how some involve all different parts of the plant. Our guide met us right on time. We took a private van to the spice farm. You will also have a local ‘farm’ guide along the tour once you arrive who will make you beautiful plant/flower adornments, so be prepared to give him a tip ;). There’s also opportunity to purchase items along the tour, but unlike other reviews, we did not feel pressured to buy.

Wonderful tour of a Spice Farm - This was a wonderful guided tour and my tour guide was very knowledgeable about all the different spice trees and plants. At the end I was given jewelry made of flowers.

Interesting and well-presented tour - Our guide arranged for us to be picked up at our hotel. He was very knowledgeable both about the conventional uses of the various spices and about local uses. He could review the English words for a couple of the spices we saw, but it didn't detract from the overall experience.

Great and fascinating experience - Overall a fantastic experience with a friendly and engaging guide. Fascinating learning about the spices. They also let me have a go at the traditional coconut tree climbing which was very fun. Only reason it’s 4 stars and not 5 is the amount of times tips are requested/ buying encouraged (3 tip requests, 2 buying opportunities for me) was a bit much for my liking. If I did it again I would still tip just slightly less to each of them as I didn’t realise how many times they would ask.

Fun and educational - A nice place to see in Zanzibar, it has plenty of spice trees to look at. Our guide and his accomplice put in great effort so we understood, as we sometimes hit a language barrier. Interesting to learn, how the spices are produced and used. Overall a nice experience.

Spice Farm Half Day - It was nice to visit a small spice farm. Our guide was informative and a lot of fun and offered door to door service from Pingwe for an extra charge.

Eye opener tour. - My husband and I did the spice tour and it was great. Driver was on time to pick us up at the hotel. It was good to link the spices we use on regular base to the plants where they come from: vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper etc. Amina, the tour guide was great. Thank you

Okay but I wouldn't recommend. - The tour was okay. Pick up was on time. Seif wasn't feeling well so we had another lady take us on the tour. We had a young man with us to get some spices off trees. At the end of the tour, we get to try different fruit but at the same time, the young man who was with us had made like bags, crowns and wrists bands using leaves. Then the tour guide said that these helpers don't get paid and it would be good to tip them. I didn't really like that as if they work on the farm, neither the farm nor the tour company is paying these young men? That seems highly exploitive and it puts you as the guest on the spot to tip them. Overall, the trip was ok but I wouldn't recommend it to be honest.

Good to know more about spicy - The spicy tour was great, but I would choose other operator next time if I were there again. The time of the tour was 9:00am as stated on Viator, but the tour guide contacted me said it started at 9:30am. It was not a big issue though.
