This historic area showcases a blend of Arab, Indian, Persian, European, and African influences, evident in its narrow, winding alleys lined with buildings featuring ornate, carved doors and shaded verandas.
Your tour will include key sites: the Central Fresh Market, Former Slave Market (with dungeons, sculptures, and church), Old German Consulate, Africa House (formerly an English Gentlemen’s Club), Tip-Tip House, Old British Consulate, Orphanage Home, Old Fort, Forodhani Gardens, the House of Wonders, Sultan’s Palace Museum, Custom House, Old Dispensary, and the Old Harbor.

Changuu Island & Nakupenda Sandbank
Prison Island - Changuu Private Island - Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island, offers a fascinating glimpse into Zanzibar’s history and natural beauty. Originally intended as a detention site for rebellious slaves, the island later became a quarantine station for yellow fever patients. After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the hotel around 10 a.m. for a short ride to Stone Town, where you’ll board a boat for a 30-minute journey across turquoise waters to the island, northwest of Stone Town.
The island welcomes you with breathtaking scenery, ideal for photography enthusiasts. The main attraction here is the colony of Aldabra giant tortoises, some over a century old, along with baby tortoises. Zanzibar Island - After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your hotel around 11 a.m. for a Spice Tour at the Government spice farm, an essential experience in Zanzibar. Here, you’ll explore various plots where spices, fruits, and some vegetables are cultivated. As you walk from plot to plot, you’ll dig, pick, taste, and smell roots, leaves, fruits, and barks of various spices, guessing each one by sight, scent, and taste. This hands-on experience immerses you in Zanzibar’s rich spice culture and its historical importance.
Afterward, relax and enjoy freshly brewed teas like aromatic masala, refreshing lemongrass, and sweet vanilla, all served with local Zanzibar peanut brittles. A memorable highlight is watching a skilled coconut climber effortlessly scale a tall palm, often singing or performing as he climbs. Mnemba Island - Your day starts with a 9 a.m. breakfast at your hotel. At 10 a.m., our guide will pick you up for an exciting adventure to Mnemba Island, renowned for its snorkeling and dolphin encounters. With its vibrant coral reefs, Mnemba is home to diverse marine life, including green sea turtles, colorful coral fish, and playful dolphins. If you visit in late July or August, you might even spot humpback whales migrating through these waters.
The day begins with a dolphin swim, guided by our experienced boatman. After 3-4 hours, you’ll head to a prime snorkeling spot near Mnemba to explore the crystal-clear waters, surrounded by fish and coral. If time allows, you’ll visit a serene blue lagoon filled with fascinating marine life.
