Zhangjiajie, with its ancient woods, rocky peaks and flowing rivers, offers a remarkable opportunity to appreciate the grandeur of nature. The park maintains an extensive 60% of untouched vegetation which hosts around 550 unique tree species including rarely seen dove trees, ginkos, and dawn redwoods, that were thought to have disappeared until 1948. The park is also home to highly sought-after medicinal herbs used in Chinese herbal medicine that thrive from the basin to the towering tops.
