Additional Information

The unique dwellings called tulou, found among the Hakka people, boast a rich history and are now major attractions for tourists.

The nostalgic Yunshuiyao Old Town, or Yún shǔi yáo gu zhen and known as The Knot Town, gained recognition due to the popular Chinese film Yún shǔi yáo, which was honored as the Best Film at the 2007 Golden Rooster Awards. Yún shǔi yáo, translated as ‘The Song of the Clouds and Waters’, tells a romantic story set in 1960s China.

One of the most awe-inspiring tulou groupings is the Hekeng Tulou Cluster, a proud member of the 46 Fujian Tulou World Heritage Sites. From an aerial perspective, the massive ‘T’-shaped earth structures of the Hekeng Tulou Cluster emerge between verdant mountains and pure water, augmenting the grandeur of the landscape.
