Shifen Waterfall - Meet the tour guide at MRT Xingtian Temple Station, then head to Pingxi. Shifen Waterfall is a ledge waterfall. The rock formations on both sides of the waterfall flow against the water, a geological feature known as the anticline structure. It is often called Taiwan’s Niagara Falls due to its panoramic resemblance to Niagara Falls in North America. The majestic stream splashes as it plunges into the deep pool below. When the sun shines on the mist, a rainbow can be seen over the waterfall or pool, earning it the name “Rainbow Pool.”
Shifen Old Street - Shifen Old Street is the largest and busiest old street on the Pingxi Railway line, famous for its sky lantern setting. Here, visitors can enjoy delicious food, beautiful scenery, and learn about the area’s mining history.
Jiufen Old Street - The narrow street of Jiufen Old Street, which winds along the hill, is filled with various stores. The aroma of traditional food is everywhere. Visitors must try the classic snacks in Jiufen, such as taro balls, meatballs, chháu-á-kóe (mugwort rice cake), and more. Additionally, there are antique toys, unique Taiwanese souvenirs, and a dazzling array of shopping options. Tourists can explore the hidden lanes and alleys in Jiufen and admire its beauty from different angles.
