Great layover experience in Taipei - Stephem is such a nice and great tour guide. He was responsive before the trip. He picked us up on time, explained the destinations, walked with us everywhere, took great pictures for us.

Stephen was amazing. At... - Stephen was amazing. At our request, he changed up the trip to do a mostly city tour of Taipei. He took us to some very fun, off the beaten track places. Super interesting. Full of energy. The day flew by.

Fabulous day - great host - A great tour, run by a great host. Highly recommended.
Our goal was to see the Queens Head … and it is truly magical… smaller than I thought but no less spectacular. Our host Stephen brought the whole area alive by pointing out different rock formations which we would have been missed on our own.
Our second visit was to the old gold mining town where we had local tea. It has to be poured away 3 times before drinking…but will leave you to visit to find out why!
Finally we set off a lantern from a railway track….and then watched a train go right though this area!! Very tight but safe.
Stephen was an excellent host. On time and attentive to our needs. He was also very informative which was much appreciated.
If you want to get out of Taipei and explore rock formation, waterfalls and more then consider this trip. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Do not miss the opportunity to get into the countryside of beautiful Taiwan. - We had a wonderful day with our guide Eric. A stunning drive through the mountains learning about the history of coal and gold mining in Taiwan. We stopped at stunning locations which my photographer husband particularly appreciated. Eric was also very helpful as my husband has a broken bone in his foot so not as mobile as we had expected him to be, Eric thoughtfully dropped us and picked us up from as close as possible to the different sights.

Excellent tour of... - Excellent tour of Northern Taiwan. The driver Eric was fantastic and fun. He shared all his local knowledge of the sites we visited. We definitely want to come back to Taiwan in the future.

An exceptional tour of Northern Taiwan !!! - From the minute that I was picked up at my hotel the journey started. Eric was so proud of his country and showed me his secret places. His car was a new Tesla with a glass roof which made seeing things on the way easy. We visited waterfalls, little villages with streets lined with local teas, food and crafts. We also visited historical sites in Northern Taiwan. He made it easy for me to wander small streets alone because he gave me a phone with GPS so he could monitor me in places where he could not park or drive. I messaged him when I was through and he was there to pick me up. I saw temples and even a cave called The Budda's hand ( a natural rock formation that looked like a real large hand imprint). Never would have found that. We passed many food vendors and he had me try samples of the delicacies that were local to the area. It wasa8 hour tour and there was so much to see. Beautiful coastlines, natural rock formations , quaint villages, and also Taipei itself. He also showed me short videos on his car screen of areas that I saw, especially if they were relevant to places we were visiting. Eric was so eager to please and answered all of my questions fully. He is a credit to the Viator team. I can't say enough positive things about him. I also saw the memorial to Taiwan's leader Chaing Kai Shek. Instead of being dropped off at my hotel, he showed me a shopping area nearby where I chose to go in order to get some shopping done. Eric was a treasure and a great representative of his country

Private Tour of Taipei area - Eric was a wonderful guide! We learned so much about the history of Taiwan. He took us to places known only to locals so we could avoid the tour bus crowd. Highly recommend as a way to see the sights in comfort.

Great, but rainy. - Experience was good. Be prepared for rain! Launching sky lanterns was awesome! Would have given 5 star, but guide was pretty quiet unless we asked questions.

Bit Disappointed - Too much cost for what we got. Driver (Stephen) always seemed to be in a hurry, and didn't really act in a guide capacity, mostly leaving us on our own so that we missed the lighting of the lanterns at Shifen Old Street, because he didn't walk up the hill with us and explain where to go. We also arrived back at our lodgings an hour early, so I'm not sure what the rush was to complete the tour. Not a great experience at all.
